the fwd 3.2 A3 should be a good match for it...w/ quattro may be really close. supposedly the 3.2 puts out 255 hp

That's right, 255HP. But here in the States I don't think we'll ever see a FWD 3.2.

I'd have to look up the weights and estimated 0-60 times but I'm too tired. Perhaps tomorrow.

This what I've found so far... Audi claims the A3 Sportback 3.2 quattro (255bhp) to do a 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds. And the 2.0T quattro (200bhp) will do it in 7.1.

A3 Sportback 3.2 quattro, Unladen weight: 1535kg
A3 Sportback 2.0T quattro, Unladen weight: 1470kg

BMW says their new 330i SE does 0-62 mph in 6.3 seconds and weighs in at 1525kg. 258bhp and 300Nm of torque.

All stats are for manual vehicles.

I think the A3 will be a bit faster than that, Audi always undercuts its performance numbers.

Well a stock R32 weighs in at around 3330lbs (~1510kg) and is rated at 240hp...

Didn't look up the 0-62 but Road & Track is saying 5.8 for the 0-60.

wow i didnt expect the A3 to weigh more than a 330 sedan

Yup, AWD adds quite a bit of weight (but also a lot of advantages as well). Like I said, two very different cars. Now if it were the AWD 330xi or whatever they call it...
