so you big turbo'd and then dropped it on bags? seems sort of backwards no?

ya kinda but i was just going to go with a gt2871r which did and then since it wasnt too much power i got tired of driving around town and scraping the car on every bump so i put the bags on... then the turbo imploded and sent shards of metal through my engine so it turned into the build it now has!!

i truthfully have no clue we are just going to keep pushing until we run out of fuel, break, something or are happy with the power... i hope to produce around the same power bsh produced on there mkiv gti or even a little more... but we will see as we get everything back up and running... im still waiting on my turbo and manifolds

dude, GTX2863R will push 300 g/s easy (that is at 23 psi, 6500 rpms), and have instant low end power. why yoiu still waiting on the EFR? :)

Dont listen to this guy OP, he's just trying to distract you by getting off topic and not telling us about that stage 5 clutch he just installed.

Now that is a part that turned out surprisingly well. Actually I think I got enough miles on it to make an informed full review now. A little spoiler, I honestly don't have any negative review points, and after over 1000 miles I don't expect any to show up either.*If you know me, I am critical as hell, so this is saying a lot.

In short, depending on what he decides to charge for it, and after having a stock, a Full faced Kevlar, and a FX400, this dual ceramic would easily be the first clutch on my list. It seriously feels just like how people describe multi disk setups, smooth linear engagement with solid hold.

If he was looking at a 7064, I highly doubt he'd step down to a 2863. A 7064 is on par I believe with a GTX3071.

Either way I don't understand why BW has had such an issue with the backlog of turbos. I've seen posts all over the net with other people talking about the long wait.

If he was looking at a 7064, I highly doubt he'd step down to a 2863. A 7064 is on par I believe with a GTX3071.

People are stuck on the name of the turbo rather then the performance. The GT3076 was always liked for the top end, but you lost a chunk of power band in the mid range. Now the GTX series helps a turbo flow more at higher pressures, not south improvement on the lower end. So a GTX3076 is a step down in that it doesn't fix that missing chunk of power band, it just makes the 3076 flow better at higher pressures.

Now taking what is said above, the GT2860 was always loved for the low end punch and mid range smoothness. But it was lacking on the top end. So people had to choose one or the other. The magic of the GTX2863/2867R is that it retains that lovely low end and mid range, BUT also flows close to the GT3076 up top. So it is a huge improvement and step up. I am literally pushing 300 g/s at 6500 with only 22-23 psi. That is on par with the GT3076R!! BUT it drives in town like a K03, punches through the mid range like the disco potatoe, and finishes like a high powered Victorias Secret model on Lance Armstrong enhancement up top.

If you look at the graph I posted in another thread you will see im pushing 312 g/s at 5000 rpms and at one point in the graph I was at 306 g/s at 4520 rpms with only 23.5 psi of boost. I am saying this for others as a refference...

Eric they are posted in your build thread for you to compare with yours...

That is what I am saying, a GT3076 and a GTX2863R both roll out around 300 g/s of flow on the top end. Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking you build at all, the 300 g/s level is a very fun car to drive! :) I am just noting that it is possible to get in this range AND have a car that shoots around town building boost from 2000 rpm's.

If I ever get back to Oregon ill hit ya up for a friendly..... I guess my concern is trying to keep people from spending money that doesnt need to be spent that could be spent on other things for their cars, but I also understand that there is trial end errors (trust me I know of the trials and errors as there was no tuning for a 3076 back then I was custom building mine).

EFR's transient response blows GT and GTX's out of the water. GT is clearly obsolete as the GTX series is the first of the higher flow series of garrett turbos, any flow diagram can show you that.

If i was you i'd wait for the EFR depending on how long you've been waiting it may be worth it or worth it to find a supplier who actually might get one. that being said I didn't wait lol.

but the GTX outflows a similar sized EFR up top by a significant margin
