Will those fit other generations of A4s?

Pete, are these older tips, or something? I just got mine from Audi directly, and they didn't have the allen-head bolts.

Interesting!

These are an off-the-shelf Audi part that, while it may fit other Audis, has only been test-fitted by us on the MK1 TT as well as the B8 A4 avant.

Perhaps mentioning the diameter may help. In the UK on the S-lines we get much larger pipes than non-Slines and hence the chrome cover is bigger. I've a feeling these are smaller.....oh here Audi are meant to supply them on S-lines anyway although a lot of people didn't get them.

p.s. The pic seems to show the slash cut being used horizontally. The Audi push on ones (which came with the car) are slash cut and fit so the slash is at about 45 degrees so it also follows the wrap around to the side of the car. Just thought it was worth mentioning even though people can obviously fit them anyway they like.

p.p.s. That price for anything Audi OEM is a bargain !

They won't fit on a sedan, the Avant has a larger diameter exhaust.

At these prices you could just sell em to your local smelter and recoup the cost.
Christmas is over, but these would make good tree ornaments. (Isn't this the season of AUDI?)
How about making it into a key chain? Never lose your key fob(s) again.
Or best yet, string them together around your neck and wear 'em proud.

You're dead on, Scotty. The push on ones have a cut...but it's hard to tell a complete difference between the two.

My push-ons, with the cut.

Are you saying the slash cut is in 2 axes? (Slash horizontal, and slash vertical?) Wouldn't that be the same as a single slash cut at a degree other than 0 or 90? What I'm thinking is, we can still use these tips, but just rotate them inward (so that the longest part of the tips are mounted at like 2 o'clock on the left side, and then 10 o'clock on the right side). Wouldn't that give the same effect? (My geometry skills are a little rusty here.)

Or are the tips indexed somehow, so they only go on one way? (And one can't change the rotational orientation of the tips?)

I accidentally ordered the tips for an Avant a few months back (got the part # mixed up), and I can tell you from experience they won't fit. As I said earlier in this thread, the Avant has a larger diameter exhaust,so they are too big for the sedan.

but why won't they fit? did they not stay on even when the allens where all the way in? this can easily be fixed but getting your own hardware. is the cutout not large enough to fit both tips? i'm not going to be cutting up my car so if that's the case, i can just resell them

the tips for the avants are something like 3.5" diameter where the sedans are less than 3" maybe even 2.5"?? they wont fit w/o major modding...

And that is why I have my '09 3.2L OEM stainless tips, body shop painted Quartz Grey Metallic/Clear coated for sale. They will fit the 2.0T Avant tips, will NOT fit 2.0T sedan tips (smaller diameter)

What is the outside diameter of these tips ? Is it same as OEM tips ? Here in Europe, we have two different exhaust pipe diameters, model year 2009 has 70 mm outside diameter and model year 2010 has 76mm outside diameter. Will these fit to both sizes?

You're correct. My pipe and cover has a single slash and hence when I push it on the cover matches the slash. I was purely commenting that the photo has them in a different orientation ;)

p.s. This is why they're needed on the Avant. The stock pipe is embarassing! [:/]

Just wanted to chime in here for the benefit of the community. As some of you may know, I am the only person (AFAIK) crazy enough to have retrofitted an avant exhaust to my sedan [>_<] Basically, my tips look and sit exactly like in scottyuk's pic above (except that my bumper/valance isn't S-line). I decided to purchase a set of these "avant" tips to see how they'd look on my exhaust despite the suspicions of ppl here that they may actually be different than the actual avant tips (ie these ones have bolts on them). Unfortunately, I am here to report that I've received and returned them.

When I received them in the mail, I was pretty excited. The tips I received were clearly labeled for the Audi TT and had a different part # than the ones linked to in this thread. However, they did look exactly like the pics in this thread as well as in hiwords1's thread here (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/405801-ECStuning-B8-A4-avant-exhaust-tips-on-sedan), so I took one out for test fitment.

It turns out that while the circumference of these tips so match that of the OEM avant exhaust, the slant-cut angle isn't acute enough. The end result is that once placed on the exhaust outlet, you can see the rim of the exhaust outlet on the inside of the tips. In addition, the shallow slant-cut angle of the tips doesn't match well w/ the degree of roundness of the valance.

I figured no problem, maybe someone in the shipping dept at ECS Tuning just sent me the wrong part (despite what Pete mentioned above about them being tested on a TT and an avant, I was hoping they were avant tips that work on a TT rather than TT tips that work on an avant). ECS Tuning has been great to deal w/ in the past, so I was confident that they'd take care of the situation. I called up customer service and was told that these TT tips were test-fitted to a B8 avant successfully. I explained to them that while the tips do fit on the exhaust outlet circumference-wise, the slant-cut angle is totally off.

Since they were not a perfect fit like I had expected, I opted to return them. I got a partial refund (ECS Tuning charged a restocking fee and do not refund shipping cost) but the tips were ordered at a crazy discounted price, so I wasn't out too much money. Sometimes being a guinea pig pays off, sometimes it doesn't [:)] In this case, the tips were too good to be true I guess. I will continue to do business w/ ECS Tuning as they're a great company to deal w/, I just need to trust my instinct in the future.

On another note, they seem to work fine for rippin'av, so maybe I really did receive the wrong part? Not sure, but I know that I was very thorough in test-fitting them to my avant exhaust. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be for me [:)]

If they didn't look good on your avant exhaust, I can only imagine how bad they would actually look in person on a sedan's exhaust. As previously stated in this thread, I had ordered the (real) avant tips by mistake, and they looked terrible and tacky on the much smaller sedan exhaust. To each their own I guess, I'd rather spend the $100 more to have them look good. I think if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Same story here except i kept them because no one but me will notice that they are not 100% correct and for $18, they dress up the back end of the car.
This way both my 2009 avant and 2010 sedan look a little closer.

I agree that they aren't 100% perfect but nobody will notice in a month when the inside of the pipes are covered in black sh#t. I highly doubt anybody can tell how it is now. Some people need to lighten up just a little...The pros out weigh the cons for me here. I think it looks pretty good.

You got it - these began their lives destined for MKI TTs. Audi often drastically reduces the prices on individual items either to clear out their warehouse or to get rid of an item that's going NLA.
