Christmas gift from a buddy of mine, 3M Di-Noc vinyl white, he even wrapped it for me. Still need to find time to remove the center console trim and have it wrapped. Also thinking about wrapping the engine bay cover, what y'all think?

Beautiful. Will look damn sexy when the center console is wrapped.

Best regards,

How did you manage to wrap the vinyl around the quattro badge ?

How did you manage to wrap the vinyl around the quattro badge ?

I did mine by taking a die grinder and "grinding" off the plastic "rivots" on the back. The badge pops right out. Next wrap your piece and take an old credit card or something and make sure you press fabric deep into badge recess. After everything set, I applied some more glue to recess and back of badge. After a little bit of finger muscle to push it back in the recess, it set perfectly and hasn't come close to falling out yet.

(excuse the dirty dash):

Did similar to seahawker to remove the quattro badge, it popped back in after the wrap and you can use some krazy glue or epoxy over the rivots to make sure it stays in place.

How does it hold up to finger prints and other sh*t?

Holdin up well so far, its textured vinyl and not glossy so you shouldn't have issues with fingerprints, also seems easy to clean. Others have used multiple clear coats on it to get a glossy look, but I prefer it matted the way it is.

Looks like good work, do you have a closer shot of the MMI area?

Does well around the edges, just gotta have patience and use heat to get rid of the crinkles. My buddy said it took him 40 mins just to do the door trim on his first try, but you'll get better at it with practice I guess.
I'll get some better shots of the mmi and left ac vent later today. Also gonna get started on removing the center console and have it all completed by new years.

Looks siiick, exactly how I envisioned it haha. You need to take closer pics of the left vent and the right where the hazard button and screen is. Try to show how I layed the pattern down mirrored for the two.

Took me 40 mins because..well...perfection takes time.

Man that looks sweet on an Ibis car! Most creative interior mod I've seen. I really like that you did the silver dash/screen trim pieces too.

You inspired me to do the same. I went with the Graphite color as it will better match my black exterior. Did your friend take off all the parts to do the install or did he leave them on?

Has anyone tried this as an exterior accent on the mirrors or front bumper?

tsn80 removed the trim himself and left them with me. I wrapped them and returned it to him the next day. you're not going to be able to do this with the parts still on the car.

Yah, it matches great with the Ibis white. Pictures don't do it justice, hard to get the full textured look without the right lighting. I'll try taking shots of it in sunlight once I get the center console wrapped too.

I have been trying to find the pics sent to me by a friend to no avail, but an Ibis S4 at a Miami area dealership had the full custom white trim earlier this year.

It looked pretty clean!

Keep up this theme!

tsn80
12-28-2010, 11:00 PM
Here's a clear coat experiment: http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/blog/experimenting-by-clear-coating-di-noc/
I'm pretty content the way it is now, I like feeling the texture of it and the clear coat would probably cover that.

The Collection (in Miami) had their custom Stasis A4 with ibis white (gloss) interior trim. I guess it looked cool. I think I like the texture from the OP's vinyl better.

It looks like a job done right!
I still prefer silver/aluminum with the black interior.
I think if you get some white wheels like on the Rieger A4, it would really finish it off.

Silver CF vinyl is also available but the white looks perfect in a white car. Silver or graphite would look great in a black car with the black interior.

Can you put a piece of the vinyl up against the ibis paint?

Would like to see how close the whites are to one another.

How on earth did you get this properly covered without wrinkles? Especially where it bevels towards the screen? I've been going at this MMI piece for hours and it's giving me a headache.

Hi Guys,

First post. This looks awesome so well done and congrats.

I am doing the same job with the black carbon di noc, will do the doors and dash ans around the gear shifter. Contemplated the dash console but...hmm not so sure. Might look like overkill. Any thoughts on this are welcome (P.S I have black rims on a black car, black interior with light color roof liner).

The plan is to do the doors, the shifter area and then see if it looks right. MIGHT then have a go at the dash console if it looks O.K with a piece held up against it but not actually applied.

Question: Any help on "how do I remove the door and dash inserts of my b8"? [confused]

Will post photo's when done.

i've done the black cf di-noc , and it looks great.

I took it off the MMI surroudn, it was a bit overkill and started peeling away. Plasti-dip the MMI surround, while di-nocing the door trims / passenger-side-dash-piece (its a stubborn one, pull from the middle, not the edges) and it'll make the black/black complete.

big IMO here. [;)]

I recently used Di-Noc to cover my trim as well. I didn't like the way the di-noc looked on the MMI surround so I took it off and painted the MMI surround in Piano Black Lacquer. I am very happy with the way it turned out. This are some quick pics. It looks very clean in real life...I just had some smudges on it that I didn't wipe down before the pics.

Shoot - where were you guys and the pics before I ordered some graphite Di-Noc for the instrument cluster surrounds? Got samples of silver and graphite - decided to go with graphite. Just got the 2x1' piece yesterday. Meh.... I'm going to try it anyway - I don't like the plastic look of the stock surround.
