I was looking through some old pictures today, and found it quite interesting over the stages I have gone through modding my car in the past year. I can definitely say I love the way it is now, and can't believe I did half the shit I did before. When I first bought the car I was so satisfied with the car. I told myself I would never do anything to the car because it looked so good compared to previous cars (Honda Civic, Honda Accord, Toyota Tundra). But then I got the AZ mod bug....

Purchased Used CPO 42k miles in August '09

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/IMG_0380.jpg

The very same weekend installed tint, 15% front 10% rear

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/IMG_0387.jpg

Here comes my ricer stage (Honda Accord/Civic previous cars). I installed 6000k HID's in my headlights/fogs, and yes in halogens. Also went ahead and painted my sidemarkers and my taillights. Yup, painted the taillights. I had no idea about Laminix at the time.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/IMG_0531.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/DSCN1743.jpg

Next I installed H&R Spacers (10f/15r), as well as the RS4 Rear Sway bar.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/fronttire.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/reartire.jpg

In March '10 and 20k miles later, I installed APR Catback, Eurocode TP, and Revo Stage II.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/exhaust.jpg

Eventually I got sick of the height of the car, I purchased a set of D2 Street Coils. At first I was a little skeptical of going too low, so I just did a mild drop.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/IMG_0001.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/DSCN1938.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/DSCN1945.jpg

I also got sick of my HID's in Halogens, so I went the low cost route and purchased a set of Depo Angel Eye Projecters. However they came damaged, so I had to fix them.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/photo.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/photo-1.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/2-Front.jpg

As time went on with my current coil setup, I got over my catiousness and went way lower (24.5 fender to ground).

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/IMG_0224.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/5075920740_8408525930_b.jpg

Then in the past few months I was not satisfied with the look of the front end. So I went with OEM Bi-Xenons with Phil's LEDs as well as a front filler plate.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn192/ryanworth/Audi/DSCN3380.jpg

All in all, I am so glad to have come this far with the car but am looking forward to what more I can achieve. None of this could of happened without the help of the Zine.

When i was looking for my car, Titanium was a must, but I wanted that color. Car looks great. The only thing I'd change would be the chrome lonely chrome strips in the front filler plate.

Yes and no. It was quite cheap, but I purchased because I accidentally cut my original hose. I didn't notice any more power gains. The only thing I can personally notice is the sound.

They are not OEM, but they are matte mock offs. And they are not aluminum, but plastic instead. Look similar enough to me. I got them off another member on here.

Looks great man, its funny how your ideas change as time goes on. there are a bunch of mods i wanted to do right when i got the car, but i decided against it and to spend my money in other ways. I am not satisfied with my car being stock, but I am glad i didnt spend money on a few mods that I really do not like now (thanks AZ). Whats next?

ryanworth
11-19-2010, 07:05 PM
Whats next?

I would love to do a new/wider wheel setup. But to be honest I might just save up for an S4. I had a V8 Tundra for a while, and I miss the power and sound of the V8.

very nice man. i'm glad you wizened up with the mods and went with quality in the end (especially with the lights) [up]

Wheels would definitely set it apart, but it's not like it doesn't look amazing as-is. And I agree about the mirrors and filler plate really pulling things together. Keep it up! If you need wheel suggestions I'd be glad to help out :D

They are probably real S4 mirror covers. The only ones that were aluminum were the ones on the 2004 model year S4. anything '05 and up is the painted plastic. that's what my S4 has

The ride is great! I mean, it's the normal bumpy over big dips/bumps in the road. But it has a nice smooth feel to it in the turns. They've been holding up great so far, no flaws. Only thing I can say is I wish they went lower.

I knew the newer S4's were made of plastic, but mine do not have any Audi logo anywhere to show they are OEM. Who knows, they look the same anyways. [up]

That's the only reason I did go with these ones. The black finish is almost the same, just a matte finish. Trust me, they look completely different in person. Those pictures don't really capture them.

The DTM filler plate is non-sline only I believe. I looked into the glossy black before, I like the flat look better. Then again, the plate is Plasti-dipped.

It's hard to tell...In person I can't notice it. But i've seen it look like that in a couple pictures, not all of them though.
I'll take a look at it anyways, may need to do some adjustment. Thanks. [up]

Already posted about my new wheels, but figured I'd update my "build" thread. Plus parking in front of my neighbor's big ass truck results in pictures, haha.
I sold my Vellano's and picked up a set of Privat Akzents.

215/35/19 all around
19x8.5+22 front (10mm spacer)
19x8.5+17 rear (15mm spacer)

The 215's are holding up great, giving me no issues on CA roads/canyons. My only problem right now is with the offset I have in the rear, I get major rubbing when carrying passengers. So realized I need to get coilovers with a higher spring rate in the rear.
Looking to upgrade to some KW V2's in the near future, which will also allow me to go lower.

I have a Podi License Plate mount waiting to be put on, just have to receive a missing part from Winston.
(CHP is cracking down like crazy on front plate tickets, haha)

Stay tuned.

Ryan, you car almost looks fake/ photoshopped in this pic. It's so shiny that it's nuts. Lookin good!

How difficult is the clay bar that you do approx every six months/ how long does that take to do?

I'm interested to see how the upcoming front plate mount changes the look - be sure to post pics. Thanks dude.

It's in amazing condition, but some of the shiny you see is just photography. Haha.

I clay bar maybe once ever 6months or so, and wax once a month.
Clay bar takes a good 3-4 hours, wax about 1hour or so.

Yeah pictures will be going up soon of the Podi plate. I hate running it, but not worth the ticket. [>_<]

It's been quite the past month for my car! Just hit 94k miles and had to come across some wear and tear maintenance.

On the way to AZ10 blew my PCV, which was quite the easy fix. It was kinda funny to hear your idle rpm's surge from 2k rpm and then drop down to 750rpm. Lol

I got around to checking my cam follower as well, and it was completely shot [facepalm]
The car is going into the dealership tomorrow to get the fuel pump, cam shaft, and follower all replaced under the extended warranty. [up]

Now for some better news, I ordered a new GX Racing FMIC ready for the SoCal summer heat. I went with this intercooler just because I don't plan on going any further performance wise with the car.
So I didn't feel a $1000 IC was worth the money. This will give many the gains I need to keep the airflow cooler.

Also, come July I will be picking up a set of H&R Coilovers. So new low stance here I come! I remeasured my FTG and I'm actually around 24.5" with these wheels. [=(]
So I'm hoping to be in the 23.5"-24" range, just enough to tuck the tires a little!

Yes CX Racing. Typo's suck, haha. I'm surprised you haven't gotten one yet.
You have worse heat soak over there.

Thanks. Not smoked, just painted black. [up]
Not worth paying for IMO, so I just took them off and painted them.

To do the conversion? Yes there are a few DIY's around.
The LED's were installed by Phil himself.

Man, I really want to pick up one of those FMIC.... supprisingly the dry 90+ degree days in Colorado heat soak the crap out of the car

- Your car looks great. I hate the ride on my 225's & Koni coils, I couldnt imagine 215's and D2 coils.... I want to upgrade to 235 or 245's soon. I know the difference is very slight, but still they are more comfertable

Yeah it's not the smoothest ride, and the suspension is quite soft. So that's why I'm upgrading.
And I've been debating going to up 10's all around, so that will make it a bit wider tire too.

Began to install the FMIC tonight and everything was going well until the end.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3622/5810175334_d139acd11c_b.jpg

Having some leaks with some of the pipes, which I'll figure out in the morning.

It's only boosting at about 10psi, and one of the pipes won't stay connected properly.
Going to adjust the angles of the pipes/hoses tomorrow.

Will do a write up with some pictures when fully tested and install complete. [up]

So it's been a few weeks with the FMIC installed, and I absolutely love it. I haven't had one issue, or even a fuel cut since I've upgraded.

However now I'm having other issues. A section of my driver's side LED's aren't turning on.
I've already contacted Phil about the problem and we are resolving the problem.

Fix one thing, break another. Haha. Oh well, stay tuned.

Ohs noes, its what i'm worried about. We're you turning the DRL switch off every time you started the engine, or just left it on? I'm thinking of looking into a way to automatically delay the DRL from turning on until the car is on for 30 or so seconds.

I don't have DRL, so I have to manually turn the switch to parking lights to turn on my LEDs. I always waited until the car was on to turn on the strips.

I need to get me some clay bar action soon!
