Does anyone have some recommendations for a good car wax? I've been recommended Mothers' before and I liked it but I wasn't floored by it. Looking to try something new.

Would also really appreciate a full "How to wash/wax/detail your car" DIY guide if anyone feels like an expert

I have found that using a combination of meguires scratch-x 2.0 to remove scratches and swirls in the clear coat works very well as a first step, followed by waxing with meguires NXT tech wax paste is a great combination to restore the full depth and luster of your paint. The meguires clay kit also works well as an initial step if you aren't removing light scratches or deep swirl marks as a first step before using the NXT paste wax. The NXT goes on easily and is simple to polish and remove, and it lasts!

I've tried lots of other meguires, mothers, and other products and was not impressed or satisfied. The above combination worked best for me and i now use exclusively use these products.

I have used the meguiers products mentioned above in the past and was pleased. However a few weeks ago I used the adams clay kit along with sonax wax and have to say that I will not be switching back very impressed with these products.

Properautocare.com. Blackfire All Finish Protection (Sealant) and either Blackfire Fine Hand Polish or Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear Polish. Hands down these are the best I have used and you will not be disapointed. Especially the sealant. You can apply coat after coat and its just gets better and you have never used a product so easy to apply/remove. If you need more than a light cut polish, I would recommend Menzerna Intensive Polish. The guys at "proper" will talk to you and help you decide what you need and the site has guides for all detail procedures.

I have had excellent results as well with the tech wax. I usually will clay, then apply the tech wax. It is technically a sealant (more so than a wax) but it is idea for a daily driver. I have used the liquid and the paste, with equal results. if you want the extra depth then I would stack it with a pure carnuba paste wax (Meguiar's Gold Class or similar) I did this in the past on my Dolphin Grey USP with excellent results. I'm thinking I will give it a shot on the Meteor and see how it goes. Just one application on the Meteor so far and it has greatly improved the variation in color, and brought out the metallic in the paint. Just remember, prep goes a long way, starting with clean paint makes all the difference in the world.

1Z Einszett Glanz wax works great and is priced right. Also, Optimum spray wax is an excellent spray on/wipe off quick wax product to use between full details. In general, I love pretty much everything in the 1Z and Adam's product lines. I've tried most with incredible results and now mix and match my favorite products between the two. Detailer's Domain is a sponsor here at AZ and Phil can help you with any products and/or recommendations you might need.

I've used Collinite 856, Adam's Waxes (Machine and Yellow), Meguiars Tech, Mothers, Surf City, and BlackFire Wet Diamond. I have to say, out of all the products I've used I find BlackFire Wet Diamond the easiest to work with, and it is amazing how easy it comes off. It leaves behind the slickest finish, all you have to do it layer a nice carnauba wax on top like Lusso Oro.

Zaino all the way. A bit harder to work with to make it look professional but the results are second to none.
