i put more than a hundred autocross runs, a track day (gingerman raceway in south haven, michigan) and an autox at a track (grattan in grattan, michigan on a set of azenis and they still have half the tread remaining. this was my daily driver 94 jetta vr6 so add in another 10,000 miles of commuting and road trips.

you cooked the tires because you have 1000 pounds of static weight per tire. while you car is exceptionally nice, it is no light weight by any means. add in some g-force and those tires are just crying out for relief.

I assume you checked pressures before and after runs, if not that is the likely reason for failure.

They should take that much use and alot more. I have 6 very hard track days plus alot of hard street miles on my Mich. sports, with plenty of tread left. My TT-225 is not as heavy, but no lightweight either, so that is not the only reason.

If it is just the front tires that went bad, and they are all the same lot, then you may have been enterting the turns too hot, and understeered a great deal, which lowers you exit speed alot, which, in turn, lowers you lap times.

Just a few things to think about, but I would also check with your tire dealer.

I agree with the above; front-biased heavy car+hot corner entry+understeer=unhappy front tires[=(]

keep the front air pressures up, and repeat to yourself: 'slow in, fast out'
