Saw it this weekend...and it was the "best" head unit I had ever seen!! Hands down the center-piece of the interior. It was the slickest thing I had ever seen.
Face flips open to a single slot cd "navigation" and two SD card slots to play MP3's and then a 6 disk changer in the glove box. Everything you need right there within reach of the drivers seat.
Awsome

I don't know why everyone is raving about the sd slots, I understand its cool, and they are dirt cheap because of the digi cam explosion, but audi should have done a direct ipod hook up, they are going to have to inorder to compete with mbz and bmw...

can you view images from a camera via the sd slots?

only mp3 audio is retrieved from the SD cards, although other media can be stored on them.
But, the dvd-rom drive for the nav. discs will play mp3 encoded cd's.
Audi is currently working on an Ipod adapter...
stay tuned

Does anyone know if you could plug and play the navigation unit into a 2006 A4 that doesn't come with it? What kind of mods are necessary?

your best bet is to PM PROXUS since he's the man to ask about the navigation. You can also visit the site that he's on about the nav plus. Navplus Forum (http://www.navplus.us)

It is true that it is not touchscreen. It is also true that is faster to enter information or type letters with a touchscreen. I was the one who was 90% commited to Acura TL and I loved the idea of the touchscreen nav. But I can personally tell you that after using the Audi Nav, I will never want to get a touchscreen nav. I am sure you know that as you scroll through street letters, it will eliminate the letter choices that do not match the nav database, so it really isn't that bad.
I am not defending the non-touchscreen nav, but I'm sure there are others who hate seing a single fingerprint on the screen, and actually it gets very easy to use after you get used to it.
Ipod hookup is possible if you want to lose that CD changer, but I just use SD card slot, it's been workign out great with 512 and 1GB cards that I have. And then I take one of those cards and make them a flash drive... and you can use on camera too... it's pretty cool.

every A4 2002+ is a plug & play.
Installation is around 20 min (with proper adapter everyone can do it) and if you need to see additional info between your gauges you need to use VAG.
you can find plenty of info and pictures on www.NAVplus.us (http://www.NAVplus.us)
