My wife and I want to purchase a used Avant. I've noticed several Certified Preowned Allroads but not many A6 Avants for sale at the local dealer. Should I go with an Allroad or keep on search for an A6?[confused]

it's a personal preference thing, really, but the allroad definite does have more capabilites than your standard A6 avant. My vote would be to go for the allroad

I was afraid you would say that. Considering the Allroads I've looked at are a little more than I was going to spend.
I've read on this board that people have had problems with the 2.7T engines. Would that be a reason to not get the Allroad?

well, if it's more than you want to spend, then I'd say lean toward the A6, but if you're okay to splurge a little, then....[;)]
The 2.7T motor can be tempermental. However I've only ever heard of one scenario regarding motor issues with the 2.7T in the allroad. Generally the problems you hear about regarding the 2.7T are in reference to those found in the B5 S4 and I think most all of those can be attributed to two things:
1)poor turbo care (warm-up and cool-down periods are REALLY important in that car)
2)piss-poor hear evacuation from the engine bay of the B5 superheats the oil and leads to shortened turbo life.
there are a couple other design flaws in the motors of the early S4's, but Audi fixed those up ffor the late '01 and '02 models. Fact is, though, that people mod the S4 2.7T engine a lot, too, so that inherently leads to problem reports. Modding no matter what puts more stress on a motor.
wow, sorry if this sounds like I'm talking to a neophyte. I swear I didnt' mean it to sound like that [:)]

Well I went down to the Audi dealership in Austin and test drove a Certified Pre-owned 2001 allroad. The car was pretty darn cool to drive and looked to be in decent shape, but it had 67,000 miles on it. Of course, since it had 67,000 miles on it they only wanted ~25,000. Do you think this is a sweet deal or should I be concerned with the mileage?
Imperial,
My father-in-law just bought a '01 allroad. I've got a '01.5 S4 and was just curious if the allroads have the same issues with the TBB and such. Any info you've got would be a big help.
Thanks
