Do you hear "Nice Car" a lot? I hear it constantly with my wagon and had it twice today. The first time I was pulling out of a parking lot and the guy taking the parking fee commented on how great my car looks. What makes that one really funny is that the parking lot was in one of the most expensive areas of San Diego. I actually saw a guy putting groceries in an F40 there! A couple of hours later I was picking my kids up at school and one of the boys walking by says "That is a really nice car!" in my passenger window.
I never get comments from random people in my M3 even though it is lowered with spacers etc. I find it funny how many people like the look of the Avant even though wagons "are not popular in the US"[rolleyes]

Yup, me too. I either get a positive comment or see necks swiveling almost every day. Probably because it's a rare looking vehicle.....not your typical sedan, SUV/CUV, minivan, pickup etc.

one of the more rewarding times for me was when a Mercedes Benz service tech was asking questions and throwing compliments while we both filled up at a gas station. this was just next to the MB dealership.

Avants are pretty rare especially the B8.
M3's grow on trees out here in the SF Bay Area.

More with my B8 sedan then any Audi I've had yet, and from all sorts of different folks; guys, girls, young, old... I do get quite a few thumbs up in my UrS6 Avant, but exclusively from men.
In fact, got some very positive comments on the A4 just yesterday from a couple of local radio hosts here in the Bay Area. That made the wife all kinds of giddy (she's big fans of them).

Been meaning to do an animated GIF, so that they can each be represented. I need to get on that...
The wagon's a bit faster though, so it got the top spot. [;)]

I've gotten more than a few questions about what kind of Audi my car is (it's debadged) and compliments from ppl in parking lots or on the freeway. I've also been asked twice whether my wheels are factory or not lol. The modded VW folks seem to be the most interested demographic.

get it all the time, mostly from people I work with. then other people are disgusted since as soon as they hear I drive an "Audi' they turn up their noses. Don't even have to say if its a 2010 A4 or a 30 year old clunker, its an Audi and some people get jealous or something!

^^That is pretty funny. The culture in Socal is VERY different. I was at Javier's in Newport Coast last week. At the valet stand there were two Rolls with paper plates still on them, an F430, two Gallardo's and four Bently CGT's including a brand new convertible being driven by a 17 year old girl with another teenage girl in the passenger seat.
The car culture here is insane.

Agree. Down here in Mountain View (Silicon Valley), every third car is a bimmer - boring[headbang]
Best compliments I get are from the machinists (including two ladies) in my composites technology department - machinists are car freaks.
That said, 30 years ago, I got far more compliments (and a few propositions[:D]) when I had a '75 Carrera.
Cheers[drive]

Or how about some special scripting that allows forum specific avatars? [:D]

I really gotta live in one of these locations :P I have had more "nice car"'s in this than anything I have owned previously (2 BMWs, Civic, etc), but don't seem to live in very many Audi fan areas. Which is sort of good and not - The B8 is rare, but most do not know what it is when they see it.

Dallas has a crazy car culture as well, so sadly people rarely acknowledge audi's in the midst of ferraris/lambos/etc. That said i try to give fellow audi's (especially modded ones) a friendly thumbs up. i love seeing them on the road cuz i never get to see mine on the move.

So 9 pm yesterday, i'm driving on an empty local road and I see two squad cars coming up behind me fast. I mute my V1 and hope they just pass by me without giving me crap. And of course, the signal up ahead turns to red. The first squad car paces with me until we come to stop and then just pulls ahead to stop next to a car in front of me. The second squad car paces behind me and i'm thinking he's running my plate #. Then both of us come to complete stop. I don't have anything to be nervous about but I feel extremely uncomfortable. And of course, the officer honks at me and tell me to lower my passenger window. I get nervous and accidentally lower the rear window. I make another attempt and lower the front passenger's window and our eyes lock. To my surprise, he starts the conversation with, "I love your tinted taillights! It looks slick!". At this time, i'm uncertain as to whether he's trying to be sarcastic and attempting to write me a ticket for modified tails. Then he continues by saying, "love what Audi is doing with their car! Your car looks awesome lowered! Good luck during the winter though. Have a safe night." The light turns green and both squad cars speed away.

Went to the car wash yesterday afternoon, and when the guy pulled it out of the wash to have it dried and the tire shine put on, he came over and asked me if I owned the Audi. I told him yes it was mine, and he proceeded to tell me how amazing it was, and how well it drove even though he only drove it maybe 20ft...then another older gentleman with a fairly new C300 chimed in and said how Audi really nailed the design on this car, and their whole lineup was "hot" LOL. I enjoy when people compliment my car, it makes me love it that much more.

I got 3 compliments at my college the other day. I was dropping a friend off around some of the apartments on campus, and some guy yelled "nice car" and gave me the thumbs up as I drove by with my windows open. After that, someone parked near me in one of the commuter lots, as well as one of the parking enforcement guys commented on what a nice car it was...the funny thing is, it's filthy and looks like crap right now.
