Interesting read. I always thought Porsche was part of the VAG family.

Interesting read. I always thought Porsche was part of the VAG family.
Porsche and VW have always been in the same family, yet is a family that 'feuds'. Porsche had always maintained an arms-length relationship with VW.
The Porsche 914 and 924 were examples as to which unit would 'brand' the car. Same with the Fox - Audi or VW.
Then about 2 years ago Porsche assumed massive debt in an attempt to take over VW by buying up VW stock. The economic collapse doomed Porsche's efforts and VW, with it's far greater economic resources, reversed the process and bought up Porsche.
Interesting item in this story is Lambroghini - they've sold more cars in 12 years under VW mantle than in their previous 40 years as independent.
