Specs:
Quartz Grey Metallic
2.0T Quattro
Sport
Premium
Cold Weather
Nav/Bose/6disc
Just picked one up from Mission Viejo Audi – I guess the B7’s started arriving this past week; this is the first B7 they’ve sold!
My wife’s previous car was an IS300, I was trying to convince her to get a Cayenne but she straight up does not like the looks of that car. (Sucks cuz I’d like to tow my 996 with it). So we start looking at some new cars on Saturday for fun – we drive over to McKenna Porsche (as I desperately try to get her to look at a Cayenne S) and we end up parking in the Audi lot because of the construction going on. Sitting outside is a new B7 CVT in Quartz Grey Metallic (A new for B7 color). She takes a look and wants to check it out. I start pushing over towards the new A6’s (I’m thinking V8) but she’s set on checking out the A4. A salesman comes out and takes us for a test drive. She immediately likes the car because it’s similar to her IS300, but has more of a solid sporty feel along with a little more “luxury”. I personally was sold as soon as I saw the Nav with the new SD slots for MP3’s- ultra cool. Only problem was that this one didn’t have heated seats (something she definitely wanted) and they didn’t have any B7’s with heated seats in stock– we drove home and called it a day.
Earlier this afternoon I called Mission Viejo Audi on a whim (we actually live closer to them anyways) to see if they had a properly equipped B7. For what it’s worth, Circle didn’t have any B7’s – Newport didn’t have any with cold weather (heated seats) and the right color. Luck would have it that they had the ideal B7 – fully loaded and w/Quattro. Although I didn’t think she needed the Quatrro, with all the friggin rain here in SoCal lately, it couldn’t hurt. Spoke with Ron (salesman) and Sam (general manager) and a few hours later, we were out the door with her new B7. Great experience at Audi Mission Viejo by the way, easy to deal with and they gave us a great deal. I buy a new car every year so I’m used to the whole ordeal of buying a car, but was very impressed with the service at Audi Mission Viejo - would definitely recommend them and will go back to pick up an A8 in the future!
Although I only had limited seat time in the car, here are my initial impressions, nothing technical, just some random thoughts:
Exterior:
The new facelift has definitely grown on me, similar to my feelings of the new 5 series BMW, it’s a look that will look more mature with time. The folding mirror switch is cool - great for us w/limited garage space! Can’t wait to see if they make a front license plate delete (someone pls tell me the part number if you know it) and would like to toss on some door wings to add to the look.
Interior:
VERY impressed with the Nav and the cool SD card slots for MP3. Nice screen and the 3D map is VERY VERY slick. The Nav functionality is very intuitive compared to MBZ and BMW, but not as easy to use as Acura. The Bose system is great – (something that my wife definitely stubborn about since here Lexus had the Nakamichi system) – the seats feel great and the heated seat system is front AND rear – pretty cool for passengers.
Engine:
Not the dog that I thought it’d be, definitely better than the 1.8T’s I’ve driven in the past – can’t wait till they making aftermarket stuff for this. I wonder if she’ll notice a front mount intercooler?
Handling:
The Quattro is great, especially in this rain – not enough driving time to give you any more than that, more to follow. The Sport package includes 17’s (weak) and the sport suspension and such, but somewhat a waste since I’ll probably end up throwing on a set of wheels and springs. (By the way, does anyone know if the B7 uses the same offset as the B6?)
Overall:
Very impressed with this car – actually, somewhat surprised to be honest. I’ve always been a BMW enthusiast, and then moved on to Porsche – but this Audi is pretty badass, no more complaints from me when my wife asks me to drive her car!
Just wanted to say hello!
Pls excuse the poor pics, it's raining like hell here...

Does anyone have part numbers or info for:
door wings
front license plate delete
and is the B6 offset the same as the B7?

S4 door blades...
- S4 Lower Door Flares
Front Door Driver Side: 8E0 853 959 A 7DL
Front Door Passenger Side: 8E0 853 960 A 7DL
Rear Door Driver Side: 8E0 853 969 A 7DL
Rear Door Passenger Side: 8E0 853 970 A 7DL
although i highly suggest you remove your buddy's door blades from his USP B6 and see if it still lines up...never hurts to double check. [;)]
License plate delete is a new thing...might want to check the dealer for that one. Although initially i had heard that they were going to include both pieces for the car.
as for offset...I THINK and this is a big i think is similar to the previous gen. Only the A6 and new MkV chassis uses weird offsets.

Is she going to let you mod it?
Heh - she just won't notice it :)
Already looking at some Oettinger's though so she'll notice that.
Thanks for the parts info Duan!! I'll try Brent's first to see if they match up.

Duan, any idea if the B5 offset is the same as B7? May pick up a set of used Oettingers in the F/S section off of a B5 and refinish them.
Anybody put rims on a B7 yet? I need some specs :)

there have been wheels put on the b7 from florida's gtg. the offset on the b5 A4 are similar as well although u can get away with a more aggressive offset on the newer chassis. Give it a try i'm sure the seller of the Oett wheels wouldnt mind u test fitting

how much of a noticable difference is it between the 1.8t & the 2.0t fsi ?

how much of a noticable difference is it between the 1.8t & the 2.0t fsi ?
Big difference in my opinion. No offense to the 1.8T'ers (my buddy has one) but I've driven a 1.8T Quattro and now a 2.0T and the 2.0T feels substantially better. Enough power to get around w/the Quattro and the shifting feels smoother as well. Boost seems to be ample through the powerband, but would like to chip it when the opportunity comes about. Again, these are just by the seat comparisons, but even my wife (coming from a 215HP IS300) noticed how much quicker the 2.0T felt compared to the 1.8T.
This car is great in the rain (especially with all the rain crazyiness lately here in SoCal) - love the Quattro!
My 996 has been sitting because of the rain so I've spent more time in my wife's Audi in the past 2 days then my 996 in the past week! Defintely becoming an Audi enthusiast LOL. (Anthony would be proud)

the "quicker" feeling might also come from the torque of the turbo.
i traded my '04 A4 1.8t qmt6 in for a BMW 530i - and while it does not give you the "quick" off the line feeling, it def. goes MUCH faster, due to power being available all throughout, instead of only when turbo kicks in.
what is the HP rating on the new 2.0t fsi on audis side?
just to compare the BMW 530i is rated at 225HP - NOT alot, but it gets the job done.
and amazingly my insurance dropped by $800/year - on a car that is nearly 2x as much in MSRP, Larger, 6 cyl. instead of 4 cyl. & has 45 more HP & more expensive to fix due to the aluminum body used.

the "quicker" feeling might also come from the torque of the turbo.
True, but I've been in A LOT of fast cars and know the difference in the "boosted" feel of turbo's and SC's versus the nice windup and torque of a NA car.
I believe Audi states the 2.0T with right under 200HP. The 2.0T just seems to be a more refined version of the 1.8T counterpart IMHO.
As for the 530 - I used to be a BMW fanatic, but the new 5 interior just doesn't do it for me - the exterior has definitely grown on me...the 3.0 motor is nice, same one used in the 330 and surprisingly it does the job as you said for such a large car, but now that I've driven both the 530 and the A6 I'd have to give the thumbs up to the A6 for power delivery. (Wife was looking at 5's before we purchased the B7 for her). Also, I don't know about "double"
the price for a 5series vs. an A4 - her A4 2.0T Quattro stickered in right above 40K!
Glad to hear your insurance came down and you like the 5, definitely a nice choice when it comes to sedans.

wow .. $40K ... wasn't aware that the tag on them with that option is that high.
the tag on my '04 A4 Q MT6, Prem, Sport & XM & such was right at $32K ... i think i paid about $28K for it. .. my statement was based on those numbers.
Yes, the 530 is a pretty nice car, it has a more road feel to it than the A6 does, however sometimes i get kind of fed up with it.
I really wanted to buy the '05 A6 3.2q however loaded up, being ~6K less than the 530 i ended up buying, it would've been over $200/month more on the lease (with less miles). so there was no question ... money talks. The A6 is still my prefered car out of the 2 (530/a6)

How do I get them? Would definitely like to support the site. I'd liek to buy an Audizine hat too. I'll tell my wife she can't put them onto her car until we mod something (heh heh) - she's still into the "happy to have a new car phase" but she's knows how I am...when I bought the Porsche I had parts sitting in the garage a month before I actually picked it up.

Just shoot me an email or PM if you have any questions at all.
And I am shocked at the B7's new "sport suspension". Maybe it's an optical illusion, but it looks substantially higher than the sport suspension of the B6. Strange. Those babies definitely could use a good drop. But yeah, it can be nice to enjoy a new car in its stock form for awhile, can make the new mods that much more exciting.

I appreciate the pics you took. Thanks. You know, when I look at the b6 rear compared to the b7 rear, I don't think one can say one looks better than the other. I truly love the rear light treatment of the b6. I sold my b6 in anticipation of the b7, which I haven't dropped the dime on yet. However, I'll always love the b6 design. Though looking at the b7 rear by itself without a b6 next to it, the b7 looks pretty clean, I must say. Get that b6 next to it and I do think maybe I give the nod to the b6 rear end, though. Once I do purchase the new car, I know my brain will tell me the new car looks better in every way - sort of a psychosis thing - you know, you may have the same car as me but I think your car looks fuddy duddy while mine looks totally cool. Still as a non-Audi owning and maybe a more objective observer than I will be in the future, I like the crisper lines of the new b7, more mature looking somehow . . . that though is analysis w/o considering the nose . . . which my thought here is neither to imply positive or negative comment. But I think I like it. Fourtitude.com has some good high grade shots of the b7, as well as b6, other Audis, etc. The shots there of the b7 nose make me absolutely love it. That's all for now.
