Over the last few months I've done several mods to my A4, such as grille and etc. But, have any of you gotten insurance for the mods or do you just have to be careful haha.....

Blake P mentioned something about his insurance covering the mods to someone. But they had a discussion via PM;
try PM'ing him.

Unfortunately, I've now had 2 accidents where aftermarket modifications were damaged. In both cases, my mods were not specifically covered under the insurance policy, but I was given at least partial payout for them. First time the other driver was found at fault from day 1 and my insurance company had me provide copies of invoices in order to subrogate from the other driver's insurance company. The car was deemed a total loss and I was paid out for all mods, less depreciation, which ended up being about half the original price of the mods. Second time, since fault has not officially been determined, I wanted to take it easy on my policy in case they are unable to subrogate. The body shop and my insurance company used the cost of OEM replacement parts in making their estimates. Thankfully, it turns out that should cover most (if not all) of the costs to replace the couple of aftermarket parts that were damaged - ecodes and CF filler panel.

my car was damaged in the snow due to very limited clearance. The exhaust was dented and my insurance covered it with out issue. Now my car is a stasis can and as such they covered it so maybe it all depends. If they think it was bought that way then I guess you are good. Maybe it would have been different if my car was not a stasis car but i can only talk to what my experience was. The exhaust was $800+.

My Met Life auto policy is up for 6-month renewal in 30 days.
I will contact them re coverage for all my B8 mods this time around.
I'll update when I have info from Met Life.
BTW, their rates are excellent if you take a $500 deductible and have 2 cars covered[:D].

Careful not to give them too much info. I don't know how auto insurance companies are by you, but here it's one small step below crime syndication, thus they wouldn't hesitate to use than info against me to raise my premium. NJ SUCKS when it comes to auto insurance!

I second this, in NY, an ECU tune will most definitely increase your premium...anything cosmetic might make sense but performance stuff, I'd be careful what you tell them...
