Once TFSI figure out fueling issues, and not with the 5th injector they use in the throttle body, there will be no need for the 5 cylinder engines, no matter how much i love em

Dimitris_Kon
07-14-2010, 06:08 AM
A custom intake with 4 extra 630 cc injectors and usp together with bigger fuel lines and ttrs rear pump, would be enough. With the 5 injector setup, I managed to reach 32 psi @ 7500 and the gt3076R is almost "finished".

Yes Dimitris, I know, I was drinking coffee @ politeia yesterday evening with Kritonas, so we were talking over Miraraki's car and other things...
The custom intake mani, yes, is the solution. The 5th injector though, although made power, isnt so nice at least for me.
You couldnt know if all cylinders get the same amount of fuel although Kritonas was sure they do, due to data logging....Oh well...either way, show must go on...

no matter what you say, you will never get the same torque from a 4cyl engine as you do with a 5cyl. Lets see what the TTRS engine will make(which already proves to be a torque monster)!

eastwick897

You Greeks should just design some high flowing FSI injectors. You guys have the enthusiasm, might as well make some money. I'd definitely buy a set.

You Greeks should just design some high flowing FSI injectors. You guys have the enthusiasm, might as well make some money. I'd definitely buy a set.

So far, all those cars, looking for more than 500hp at crank, have used a fifth injector in the throttle body with no issues whatsoever.

The guys who thought of it in Greece, were etuners.gr Stelios, and Kritonas, two guys working on tfsi's years now...
There is a TT with approximately 580-600hp REAL HP. Not fake.

He used a 3082, and he had 2,55 overboost and 2,2 at the rev limiter approximately...So yeah, you see, there is power.

However the 5th injector isnt the best solution we all know it. It is temporary until we go to solutions like the 8 injector-manifolds. A car is already being prepared as we speak with this thing.

Sorry for the thread jack Dimitri, i believe though the tuning level in Greece is so high, people should know about it.

Exactly, the RS4 used to cost in the excess of $140,000 here and the taxes were unbearable.. Although Dimitris' project didn't come cheap I'm sure it cost him less than the price of a real RS4 which is a lot slower than his car..

Sick car but take it to the track man. Also replace the snub mount (big yellow bushing in the front of the motor). Significantly improves shift feel and makes it more direct.

Actually it isn't in series with BSH. The reason is that I wanted a separate catch can for the 2 breathing ports on the left side of the valve cover (where the turbo is located), instead of connecting them to the turbo inlet. You can see the 2 ports in this foto :

hell if anything I'd go intake temp or liquid to air inter cooler temp and a boost pressure. and that's only if I were forced to use two gauges. 37 gauges is too much.

Actually I don't like either to have the interior full of gauges. But the thing is, due to the extreme of the whole project (aim is 450 whp), in a car that OEM has 160 - 170 whp, I have to check constantly EGT, oil pressure and temp, and air fuel mix, which are all very important, if I want to prevent something bad (bad fuel, missfires, damaged oil pump) and destroy my 5000 euros build motor. And the boost controller is needed, because the OEM N75 valve, isn't capable to control that boost setup.

Plus the benefits, of having the right boost in the right gear, which maybe in our situation isnt so important for traction, whereas in a 2WD car, it really is....
Power is nothing without control, and whoever wants some of it, should really play with an AVCR, for sure....

Nice idea Doc. But I am thinking, since the pump needs to be placed near the throttle body and it is heavy (at least the AEM), which means that extra weight is added more to the front and when the tank is full of water meth in the battery compartment, isn't about the same weight with the battery to the OEM position? Could be wrong though..

i have been using the washer bottle for WI, and never had any problems. Also it is much bigger than any WI bottle which means that it doesnt run out very fast.Esp for the amount of injection you will be spraying, these bottles will empty very quickly so think twice about using a smaller bottle. For piece of mind, i used a new washer bottle which i bought from audi, and therefore had no issues with dirt. + you can always use minimal waher fluid to keep using the washers anyway to clean the windscreen. All pumps accept it and wont get damaged.

on my car is about 4.5litres at least.

the bottles usually sold on the kits are no more than 2-3lit. Also you dont go into the hassle of moving things around the engine bay to fit the new bottle.

Today I had a fight with a 997 turbo (don't know if it had any ecu modifications), and the result was @ first I was in front of him, up to 4th gear, and @ 5th gear he stood right next to me and very slowly started to gain speed. I think my poor A4 went well..!!

Not yet, still waiting bigger fuel lines, to install them together with a bigger turbo and the water meth. I want to find an aftermarket intake with 4 extra (non fsi) injectors to maximize fuel supply.. With the turbo i am installing, the 5th injector setup won't be enough.

That does not make any sense to me if you are at 400-450awhp you should have blown the doors off him.... they are only 480bhp and they weigh 3494.3 lbs so basically it is the same weight and you should have alot more power if you are really at 400-450awhp!

Well, @ first I don't know if it was tuned and second, have you ever raced against a turbo? It is veeeery torquiey from very low rpm's and it has a gearbox that helps the motor to put all the power down to the tarmac - which explains 0 - 60 @ 3,5 sec, 0 - 100 @ 7,8 sec and quarter @ 11,4 sec. Our cars have long transmittion on their gearbox (except the RS4 which is short), for fuel economy and doesn't help the motor to show it's potential - specialy a BT which spools @ 4000 rmp.

It makes total sense. First off, unless Dimitris' A4 is gutted, it doesn't weigh the same as a 997TT. It weighs aprox 3650-3700lbs without a driver. Secondly the TT has way less drivetrain loss than our AWD design. Lastly, at high speeds, the TT's body produces less drag. To "blow the doors off a TT" from a dig, on a straight mile, I would predict you'd need a 500+ AWHP A4 in stock trim, or a very lightened 400AWHP A4.

Yea i have raced against a turbo I have 476 at the crank and it was an even race from a role starting in 3 till 120mph. that 997 had to been modded raceing you especially if your putting down the power you have... Im not knocking your car; its awesome that all us BT guys are pushing the Envelope....

Just for a reference, a bone stock 997TT will dyno around 390AWHP on a Mustang dyno and 420-430AWHP on a Dynojet. Porsche tuners seem to use around an 18% drivetrain loss on a TT. Audi tuners seem to be over 20% for Quattro's drivetrain loss.

i have tried with a 3071R 0.63AR on with an M3 E92, and it seemed to be pretty equal, maybe a touch faster (me). But i am a bit heavier as well (1750-1800). If you want to take full advantage of the 3071, best option would be 0.82AR but it will give you lag. Then the other solution is 3076 with 0.63AR. Those 2 solutions will give you a cleaner edge over a stock E92 i think.

No, it can make sense. You guys are forgetting one big thing and that is PDK. My friends and I do 60-130 runs every week and we have tested a whole number of cars from a Lambo 670 SV, RUF RT12, GT2s, GT3s, black series SL63, 430s, R8s GTRs, RS4s etc etc etc.

One thing that we have proven in our runs is that PDK is king. You are basically removing 4 shifts that take .4-.5s each. A 1 second difference is about 8-10 car lengths already. In fact a 2010 PDK turbo will beat the same bodied 997 GT3 in a straight line.

On a less relevant note, we have also realized how the butt dyno doesn't work. Certain cars that don't feel fast at all do great 60-130 times while others which feel so fast turn out to be just okay.

Any pics of the TTRS throttle body? What are the specs on it exactly (size, material the flap is made out of)? Are the fuel lines something custom your doing or did you pull it from another car? Thanks man. The throttle body is from the TTS not TTRS and I have a pic to show. Fuel lines are custom sized -6N and I bought them from extremepsi.com. I will post everything as soon as I have them all in here (haven't received everything yet). The reason I am installing bigger fuel lines, is in order to have enough fuel to take advantage of the really big turbo (bigger than 3076) I am installing and try to hit 35 psi..
