New Audi R4 details: coming in 2013, under Audi TT in lineup, 2500 pounds

R4um (http://www.r4um.com) posted some new info on upcoming Audi R4 (baby R8)

* Audi R4 arriving in European market in 2013
* To be positioned below TT model in Audi lineup
* R4 coupe and R4 roadster variants expected
* Powered by at least 1.4 TFSI and 2.0 TDI
* Approximate weight: 1150 kg (2,500 pounds)
* Programmable nagivation via iPhone (program route on iPhone in comfort of your home, automatically syncs with R4 navigation)

I love the weight estimate but you guys think it's actual possible? I haven't seen a sub-3000 pound car out of Audi, MB, or BMW in forever.... so I'm doubtful. Would be amazing though.
Also good to see the pricing will be less than the TT. Just keep this thing's looks like the R8 and it's going to sell like hotcakes.

I think your math is off....the R8 V10 is 525 HP and weighs 1620kg = 3.09kg/HP. R8 4.2 is 420HP and weighs 1560kg = 3.71kg/HP, 200HP TT weighs 1430kg = 7.15kg/HP

To beat an R8 4.2 the thing would have to produce at least 310HP, to beat a TT it would be around 160HP. The A3's 2.0TDI creates about 140HP and the 1.4TFSI less than that. Obviously other things come into play but I don't see this thing beating any TT's or R8's anytime soon.

Those wheels are horrible IMO - with a decent set I think it would probably look good. The R4 sounds interesting - but we'll see what it morphs into as production approaches.

Those were the E-tron wheels. I highly doubt it's going to stay for the R4.
