Can anybody help? The little spring loaded flap that slides open/closed when the top goes up or down doesn't always slide into place properly. Appears that one of the guide pins has broken off a little allowing too much movement laterally. About 2 in 10 times it slides in perfectly, the rest of the time I have to give it a helping hand.

The trim piece that the spring mechanism lives in appears to only run from the door frame to the top well, and appears that it should be fairly simple to pull off. I'd love to get at it and replace that flap ... unfortunately, when I went to remove it, the wood trim for the passenger area is covering the seam (presumably covering the screws holding the upper trim in place) and I can't figure out how to remove it.

Anybody ever done this and can provide insight? I tried putting a flat head under the wood trim (wrapped in a rag) to pop it but it wasn't budging and I stopped for fear of breaking it.

Hope this help. It will allow you to open the whole rear side assembly. I did this to install my smarttop.

Edit: Follow installation step 1-2. You will be able to move the whole assembly out of the car with the limitation of the seatbelt length.
