If I leave my windows open (or cracked alittle) and lock the car, or the car locks herself, the alarm will go off after a while.

One problem is that I can't hear it if I'm in the house, but it drives my neighbors nuts.
Is there a way to:
1) Bypass this so it doesn't go off at all.
2) Wire the actual horn to the alarm instead of the puny beep that it has.
I've tried disabling the movement sensors via the button near the door jam, but it doesn't help.

The button near the door jam may be defective, which is not uncommon. Make sure that disable switch is functioning properly.

Good luck,

Andre

Thanks. Do you know the reason it does it with the windows open?

because it works like a proximity sensor, and can tell if there is a change in the cars atmosphere, thus setting the cars alarm off with a slight breeze or if anything enters the car IE. a hand.

Oh, ok. That's cool. I'm gonna have to brag to my friends that my car is smarter than their's. [:)]

I have an A4 and I hate the motion sensors... that button by my door doesnt seem to do much either... maybe its a common defect in the A6's little brother too eh? :-\

Maybe so....It's kind of embarrassing when I'm inside a convient store while my alarm is going off outside, but I can't hear it, and people look at me like I'm crazy when I come out of the store.

I had my alarm sensitivity reduced to 90%, which elimiated those false alarms when windows are cracked open. At that sensitivity level, if you stick your hand in, the alarm still sounds.

I had this done when I had my car programmed to open windows with the key fob. Nice feature for the summer when I want to air the car out before going outside.

How do you get that prog?

Here is a link to an AudiWorld tech article. You need access to a VAG COM, and just recode the central locking module with the appropriate code. You can select a code that will roll windows up/down with the remote, honk/not hink when locking the car, flash/no-flash the lights when locking, locks automatically when 5MPH reached, etc. Read up here:
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec36.shtml

Once that is done, you can turn down the alarm sensitivity, follow the steps here:

FYI: there is a great archive of A6 stuff here, what we call "Stoney's Links" in AudiWorld (where I hang most of the time).
