I'm glad to se a couple AW'ers over here. I am familiar with you guys through AW but I never post over there. Too difficult to read the posts. You have to load all of them.

Good to see Badmyan and AtlasD3.

Good to see you as well Jason. I don't find as much reason to post in the D3 forum on AW, The D2 forum is very good and I follow that freq.

The format here is much easier and nicer to use, but there's too few of us here.

Just as long as there is no cheeze mystery I'll stick around hehe.

If I knew I'd gladly tell ya. Someone at some point began a queso fetish on the AW A8 forums yet no one seems to have an explanation.

LEMMINGS i tell ya...there's a mob mentality on some forums that defies explanation. If it's chic to love cheese then it must be the in thing...

It's amuzing to a very small few, I'm however not one of them.

Man, I hate that Cheese thing over on AW. WTF is it? It's on every post.

Atlas, how is your ride height working out? I read about it on AW. I gotta tell you. When I drop my D3 to the sport suspension mode I scrape on everything.

I can't imagine it any lower.

i'd like to see pics of that in the "sport" mode

Atlas, you have pics of your lowered D3 don't you? I saw them on AW.

Some times scraping is inevitable. Before I lowered it, I would occasionally bottom out on a few non code compliant speed bumps. I'll drive in Dynamic most of the time, but when entering areas with opstacles like speed bumps or parking stos, I sjut move it to Automatic and take advantage of the extra 20 mm. If there is something really high to clear there is always lift mode, which stays unchanged after the vag-com procedure.

I need to get into VAG COM. Is it really worht getting one of them.

I read your instructions for lowering your D3 and it seemed extremely time consuming.

Do you just do this stuff in your garage?

It's really not that difficult. I just had the challenge of being the first person to have ever lowered a D3. If I was to start over from scratch again I would say less than 10 mins to do the procedure. Yes I have pics... if you go to the Car Photo and Video page on here I have posted a few. I'm going out this afternoon to take addtional ones.

Waht else have you done to your D3 with the VAG COM?

Removed the annoying seat belt chime and door open chime, remote windows and recoded the lights to allow fog lamps w/o headlamps
(FL gets extremely foggy from Oct - Feb and xenons are horrible in the soup). As soon as my Euro tail lights come in I will change the coding to remove the SAE side lights as well.

I won't ask you anymore questions. You knw a lot more about this stuff than I do. Every time I ask you a question you give me an answer that makes me want to ask 2 more questions.

LOL please ask. Best part is when someone stumps me and finds a question I can't answer. There are so few people interested in tweaking an A8 it gives a good feeling to talk to people who are just as crazy as I am.

OH, I love mine. I would love to VAG COM it and get rid of all of the stupid beeps and bings etc. Maybe I'll order one up.

You can get euro tali lights for these? I usually look on e-bay for A8 stuff. Of course I never find anything.

Liam@TheGallery

Yes you can get euro tails...from europe though. The euros dont look physically different but they illuminate completely different and have amber turn signals.

from my understanding the location of certain lights ie position light/fog light/etc are different than that of the US model. Little subtle thing that makes it different from other A8's not that these are an everyday occurence.

Atlas, I think I may have contributed a little here or there before I decided knowone was intrested..... As you say there was such little intrest I stopped posting my research.

Jason, VAG is worth the investment. You need a can interface and the HEX+CAN from ross-tech is the way to go.

I'm gonna look into it more.

I assume the VAG will work the the S8 when it comes out?

Liam@TheGallery

Yes it will work with all models as long as you get a HEX-COM+CAN

hi guys,

AW has provided me with quite a lot of information
that i am very thankful for. the only thing that i don't
like is the format. maybe it's me but the format can be
very frustrating esp. when a topic receives a lot of responses.
like a lab rat i am conditioned to this type of format
from the other forums i post at.
i am also clueless to the cheeze thing.

on a separate note. my A8 is currently stored in a
rental storage facility while my house is being built.
pulling into the storage bay the concrete floor
is higher than the outside pavement. i have a system
for pulling it in without damaging the car. first i put
the car in lift mode and i also put a couple of bricks
in front of the concrete lip to make the step up even
softer. now if my house contractor would only go a little
faster....i would be able to park in my own garage....
and save a few bucks in the process!

If Audizine wasnt around, I probably wouldnt even use audiworld... the posting there isnt user friendly and too tedious. I like everything in front of you on one page with no links to read replies... the only reason I do go on audiworld is to browse the classifieds, buttttt thats about it [az] [az] [az] [az] [az]
