this is a cool video we took during stress testing, it shows the importance of turbo blankets and header wraps. Also when doing a system like this, it is important to realize how much underhood heat is generated, you should plan accordingly. [evilsmile]

Turbo blankets work wonders on AIT's which equals more HP due to cooler charge air. You would also be amazed at how much something as simple as a good ceramic coating lowers underhood temps as well.

Hot damn yes they do! I used to live 2000 feet above town, about 15 minutes of hard steep uphill driving. Red hot by the time I would get home everytime. Scary stuff. Amazing they can take that much abuse.

My downpipes are heat wrapped and coated, but when I pull my engine in a month or two or three to put in my K04's, I am going to wrap my inlet pipes and outlet pipes as well. Do the turbos need to be bare to get them ceramic coated? I'd love to get the hot side done.

My exhaust manifolds are ceramic coated as well, and I was planning on wrapping on top of them. Is this ok? Do I need to worry about moisture getting caught in between or anything? This is a B5 S4 so underhood heat is a major problem. I get pretty good IAT since I run meth, but I want them lower and lower and heat soak is a problem for me on the track.

Ray, make me a bolt-on heatshiel/blanket that fits tighter to a 30R. Lol.

I hate how big they are sometimes just so that they're "universal" .... And I want something that either bolts on the hotside, or to the side of the motor (hell, on the motor it could double as a brace!)

something like a half brace/blanket/shield.. Maybe I should draw a picture.

honestly this is all you need for thermal protection. We used it on the car in the video with great results. Also it has become the norm for all the bt cars here. underhood temps are drastically reduced.

but that doesnt look as baller as a machine cut brace/heat shield like what shawn had on his B7 (cept his wasn't a heat shield) lol
