I installed an Audi OEM XM control module (receiver) in my 2006 A4 Cabriolet.

The reception is much more sensitive to tree canopies than my previous car, which was an Acura TL.

I have much fading in and out while driving on tree lined roads. I did not have any problems with XM radio reception under trees with the Acura TL.

Is this normal, or do I have a defective XM control module?

Thanks

It is a factory XM receiver

The antenna is mounted in trunk lid on the cabriolets as opposed to roof top on sedans

My car has the factory sat, but its not activated. On saturday my fm/am
started craping out and got real statiky. I traced it back to the wires on the
left side of the trunk thats also were antenna module is. I managed to get the lower half of the trunk panel off/un-clipped...didnt wanna pull it anymore. But theres alot of crazy fun looking stuff under there lol. My problem is the wires frayed somewhere under the boot between the lid and the body have you tried there? or is it just your sat is not working?
The actual sat module is on the left side rear quarter, you have to remove
the first plastic tray and its clipped into there thru the back side.....A deep
10 mil socket to remove it. I removed that module and the radio said no
sat radio

I bought oem sat receiver from online dealer parts division, also received the audi installation instructions. All wiring and antennas are preinstalled during manufacture.

My acura sat receiver had delay built in to accomodate going under bridges and near trees.

The audi receiver does not say signal lost, song title and artist still display when reception blanks out.

The antenna is located in trunk lid in the cabriolet. Sedans have sat antenna under shark fin at back of the roof. I believe that the design yields poor reception.

Does anyone with a cab have sat receiver activated and have any reception problems?

I have no problems with am or fm reception

When we got our cab this past Sept., we still had satelllite radio from the previous owner. Never had any problems with reception. It came in crystal clear. We had sat. radio for about 30 days before the subscription expired or previous owners cancelled it. Haven't renewed it.

Reception is great except when I drive under trees.
