I test drove a 2001 TT 225hp model today... honestly, I was expecting a lot more than I saw. It didn't seem that fast or smooth (the boost kicked in at not so opportune times). How can you guys see stop lights with the windshield cut so low like it is?

On top of everything else the trip computer said we had 25 miles left in the tank, and we ran out of gas 3 blocks from the used car lot!

Anyway, just letting my opinions heard, it was a nice comfortable volkswagen... oops I mean Audi

Troll much?

The TT isn't the quickest car on the road and it certainly isn't the fastest but what do you expect from a car that has 225HP and weighs like 3500 pounds. The TT looks good and thats why people buy it.

Its not a car for everyone but the people that do get them tend to really love them.

When you have driven somtime moer than your Moms S4...OPPs I mean own sometime other than your moms S4, please let me know.
I did not get My 01 TT becuase of its speed, but rather I got for its handling in all types of weather.
You will learn that there are every few if any cars that can do what a quattro can in the rain and the snow.
After you have owned a few dozen vehicles, you will find that that non are perfect right out of the box. I have owned 2 TTs, and they are not for everyone.

They're an absolute blast to drive, especially the higher output 1.8T or the 3.2.

The TT is not about raw speed or power, it is about the complete package. Great handling, great looks, design and detail, reasonible speed and power (for a realitively heavy car). It is not for everybody, just people with good taste[;)]

like any car, i think you have to get used to certain idiosyncrasy. the view in the TT is something you get accustomed to, its not easy at first and it took me more than one test drive. as far a a faulty gauge, maybe the specific car you took out had a problem, because thats never happened to me. like Cosmo Kramer, i push the "EMPTY" to the limit and have never ran out of gas.

I've only driven the TT 3.2 but the thing was a BLAST to drive. I loved it. As for riding in TT's as passenger, I've been copilot on more ocassions than I can name and it's always great. The car still turns heads. It's not some screamer (although you could do well with the mod potential of the 1.8T) but it moves alright. It's a definite looker. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and the exterior, like I said, still draws looks.

Styling. It's necessary.

Ok, I'm not exactly sure what this means because it isn't english, but I'm going to try to pick it apart:

When you have driven somtime moer than your Moms S4

hmm that's a tough one, I'll skip that and come back to it later.

OPPs I mean own sometime other than your moms S4,

Well I know he's trying to communicate, anyway I'm going to give you an A for effort. Good job Timmy!

Seriously you guys, I came to this board to post my reactions to a test drive. I didn't come in predetermined to hate the TT and to post my thread to get the 2 people that actually frequent the TT forum pissed off. But I figured that since the majority of people on this website do live in America, we'd all have a basic understanding on Freedom of Speech. I assumed people on Audizine were all fairly understanding people, not ones who took offense to someone's opinion that didn't even slam ANYONE on this board. Did I talk about you or your mom? No, the only people who should be angry at what I said are the TT's designers in Ingolstadt.

So when someone responds to this reply in about 5 days (judging on the recent activity on the TT forum), realize that I was just posting my opinion. And if you find yourself getting red in the face at what I have to say, seek counseling.

And now a few points in rebuttal of your last post.

First off, freedom of speech works both ways. If you've got the right to voice your dislike of the TT, then we've got the right to voice our opinion regarding what you say. If you can say something, then so can we. Btw, people in other countries also do have an understanding of free speech, it's not exclusively an American thing, but that's neither here nor there.

Secondly, people on this board ARE understanding and such for the most part, but if you're going to knock someone's car, of course they won't take it well. You don't necessarily have to insult someone to their core to insult them. Besides, by insulting the car of choice of a car enthusiast, you're insulting them, as well. Most people here have a much deeper attachment to their cars, so when you knock the car, you're also knocking them in many ways. That's why they're upset as well. The designers aren't the only people who would be irritated by criticism of a car.

Bottom line, kiddo - you came to a section of the forum exclusively devoted to the TT, spoke ill of the TT and then were surprised when you drew a negative reaction? What were you expecting? Concordance? Applause? Seriously, now...

what do you want me to say? you win? you bring up interesting points, but the fact still remains, it was my opinion, if people don't share it, that's fine. I never asked them to.

I'm not mad, nor was I expecting to get glowing responses from the people on this forum. But cars, like life is not one sided. Not everyone on Audizine are Audi owners for one reason or another. Because ownership is not a requirement for membership, you all as members must be ready to accept that people who don't feel the same way you do about your cars exist and deal with it.
My remarks for the TT are just that... for the TT, not their owners or other Audi models.

I am SOOO Sorry
I ever got into this with a Grammar Teacher.
If you ever look at the post on this forum, you will find many typing mistakes, poor grammer, ect.

1. I had worked a very long day.
2.I had been out drinking for about 6 hours, to forget my very long day.
3.I don't give a sh!t enough about people like you to correct my mistakes when I type.
Lastly go drive whatever you like
opps Anthony would never let me post my last comment.

flame on kid, flame on.

the fact that you end your illustrious post with a knock on the entire audi platform as a whole includes 'yo momma's' car as well, so you're not too bright while insulting yourself i see.

secondly, the fact that you test drove a 3 y/o that may not have been up to snuff, or (eh-hem) perhaps your driving capabilities were not up to snuff and you come on here to flame about it won't exactly get you a rousing standing ovation. what happened, your mommy wouldn't co-sign for you and you're bitter?

"you all as members must be ready to accept that people who don't feel the same way you do about your cars exist and deal with it." we do, they drive mustangs...

it is a free country full of free speech and bought elections, but i bet you won't head into any rough neighborhood talking smack about their "street corner" representatives either.

no one ever claimed the TT broke the sound barrier, but you can best believe at a red light, they're all looking at me, and not your moms yo.

what I said was:

My remarks for the TT are just that... for the TT, not their owners or other Audi models.

being that you must not know, let me teach you something
Mr. Midn12ght, the TT is based on a VW golf/GTI platform, so I did not make fun of any other Audi model.

Now it seems that you must think I'm trying to show off the fact that my mom has an audi. Um, no. I'm an Audi fan, that's why I'm on this website, my mom has an audi... I don't. I want to share my enthusiasm by showing a picture of the car just like many people do, however I do not want to take credit for something that isn't mine.

what happened, your mommy wouldn't co-sign for you and you're bitter?

My mom would not co-sign for me, nor would I expect her too, because I allready have a car that my family provided me with, if I want to upgrade my car, it will be completely on my own, and there was no way I was wasting my hard earned money on that piece of sh!t.

And that is all folks, I've said my piece, if you really want to continue this thread pm me. I normally wouldn't bring up an old subject, but I haven't been on this forum in a couple weeks and decided to see if anything interesting had been posted (there hasn't), and I see yet another laughable attempt at defending their car from a TT owner who isn't able to move on from me laughing at their cute little cars.

yea go TT's! [tt]

Dont mean to keep this going, just wana add my .02. I think the tt is a great car for alot of people and is a good looking car too.I would put a boot of the shifter tho, thats my only dislike. I really dont think schulman was tryin to offend anyone, just his views of it. Yeah maybe it was a lil harsh , but hey, not everyones gona like ur car.

btw- midnight- I don't think it would matter whos car they were looking at at the redlight, cuz his moms s4 would spank ur tt.

midn12ght
02-28-2005, 07:24 PM
i never disputed the capabilities of an s4 off the line. apparently reading isn't fundamental? people buy tt's not just for go - but a little bit of class and show that goes along with it. how many times a day does someone give a thumbs up, ask "what car is that" or "is that a great/fun car to drive" to an s4 owner? you don't see me walking into a redneck bar screaming "country music sucks" now do you?
