I'm new to the audi world and was wondering what the big can underneath the car is. My mufflers come off it. I have a test pipe already and was wondering if I can elliminate that piece since I don't see it on aftermarket exhaust set ups. Any help would be great. Thanks

hmm i drive an 07 a4 2.0t and i think i know what your talking about, if its the pre muffler right after the split with two pipes exiting... than this not needed... in fact min e is in my trunk right now, had midas make 2 2" DIameter pipes 24" long and welded them in place ! the new sound is deeper and louder i may have even freed up some power it cost me 15$ for the pipes and i welded them in myself, i cut that muffller real close to the flange so i had room to weld
