I know its an easy DIY, but I'm currently not in that situation as my car was towed to a shop and didnt know that it was just coil ignition problem.

I'm getting 1 coil ignition changed out and all 4 spark plugs. The shop is charging me $85 (1hour) for the spark plugs, and (2hr) $170 for the coil ignition, I called up complaining about this because at first I was just given a total quote and figured the parts were expensive. On the phone the mechanic said its 2 hours because of important post diagnostics after replacing the coil ignition that they have to do. What's a true fair price that a typical shop would charge for labor for this?

I did this in 30 mins. Removed all the sensors, removed a coilpack replaced SP and put back coilpack. Did that 4 times and took 30 mins.

Located in Miami, they are doing the work tomorrow when the parts come in.

Tell them to go lick balls. Do it yourself.

I would say, "thanks for the parts, I'll take it from here"

Can someone meet up with the OP and help the brother out?

get some coil packs and change them in the shops parking lot[>_<]
i blew one coming home from snowboarding last winter and used a penny to take off the engine cover and pulled the plug off one by one till i found the coil that didnt make the car run any rougher and swapped it out for one i had in the trunk. its stupid easy.

Just walk in pay for the parts and do it yourself. Dude PM me if you need any help on what to do. I cannot see someone paying this much for nothing.

I am very upset by this, I will go in tomorrow morning before they do the work and try to talk with them to be more reasonable.

Im planning to change the coilpacks and plugs also at my next tune up.I was wondering how much work is it to change the Cam follower,I going to ask my mechanic to do everything at once and also change the rear diff oil.Car is almost at 90,000km....
