View Full Version : I am at a cross road...

My car is at the point where anything else I do will probably cause warranty issues. I have been thinking about getting another car, but that seems like a waste of money at this point. I want to start on the motor, but I do not know how long I will keep it. My buddy wants to buy the S4 now.
So do I keep the S4 and go all the way with the motor? I will probably do an SC if I keep it. Or do I sell it and go for the P Car? I have been lusting after a GT3. $100K for a car is a little steep, but the thing is awesome and I would keep it forever! I only have a four car garage and I do not think my fiance would be too happy with 5 cars (I do have room for a lift though[:D] ).
What do you think the positives and negatives are?

i vote the following....
sell the escalade, and the S4, and get a GT3... that'll lessen the blow on cost, plus you already have a touareg... why have 2 SUVs when the touareg is so awesome as it is?

Agree[;)]
Im wondering why one couple would need that many cars?
But in anycase, I'd get rid of one SUV and sell the S4. Get the GT3.

Keep the S4 and supercharge it. You'll be one of the first to have a boosted B6 S4 that'll put you in the mid-400hp range. Plenty of punch to take out 99% of the cars on the road, plus you'd be rollin in the comfort of a 4-door sedan!
If anything, sell the Escalade and the S2K and buy the Porsche to offset what you already have. Good luck.

Is 5.3 seconds not fast enough for you?
Not trying to irritate you - but you make it sound as if you have a 1980 Plymoth Reliant with 240K miles on a rusted frame that continually breaks down on you. Crossroads with 4 cars in a 2 person household?? You have some beautiful cars - just enjoy them.

5.3 fast enough? There is no such thing as 'Fast enough' I like the GT3 idea. I have looked at them myself. I love the sound of that engine. It is still a 'low key' car like the S4, I mean, it is still a porsche, but 95% of drivers will not really know what you have. Plus the numbers on that car are amazing. 12.0 1/4 mile, WOW fastest N/A 6 cyl. out Plus faster than almost all N/A V8s as well.

We actually have a 6 person household. I have two sons, 5 and 4 and she has a daughter and a son 5 and 3. The Escalade is not going anywhere since it is the family wagon. The Touareg is my daily driver and hauls my bikes etc. The S2000 was her Christmas present this year and is cheap enough that I am not worried about the money.
So the only car in play is the S4. It is nothing but a weekend car so the 4 doors are not really necessary. I think I will end up with the Porsche, but am still undecided.

Fast enough is an oxymoron to me. There is no such thing![:D]

Well sounds like you are just about decided.
You can always sell the S4 to me at a highly discounted price. [:D] And fast enough is all relative. Soon the GT3 will be too slow and you'll be itching for something more. [:p]

wow, you got tired of the S4 fast! If you're not attached to it, which it sounds like you're not, then dump it, get the GT3.

But no, seriously, as lame as it may sound, do what makes you most happy. If you think you'll be happier having the GT3 as your weekend car, then go for it. It's really hard to outdo a GT3, imo, heh. But if you'd rather have the S4 and just mod it like whoa, then go for that. Although it is a weekend car, the S4 is a little more practical having the 4-doors. But do whichever you prefer...
...and once you decide, let us know either way. I'm not too far away, yuo know [;)]

Did you ever think of Nitrous to make you go faster?

Here's an idea. Sell the S4 and the Touraeg and buy a Maseratti Quattro Porto (sp?) which can be both a daily driver and a fun car.

That is too funny. I was drooling over a yellow GT3 that is available in Vegas right now. It has yellow gauges and some yellow leather on the center console. I think I will end up with the GT3, but I need to see what my comp plan is like for next year.[:D]
You will definitely get a ride though. I also have pictures of the four car garage under construction right now, but have not had time to download them yet. We need to grab dinner again soon.

hahah, I got the color right and everything, sweet! Yeah, honestly, it's hard to say no to a Porsche Carrera, much less a Carrera GT3. I have a special fondness for speed yellow carrera's, too. I'll have to tell you the story sometime [:p]
Yeah man, we should definitely hang out again soon. When are you free? We can PM for further details.

I'm pretty sure that you have too much money man!
If you do get a GT3, you'd probly just get a sic set of BBS's or HRE's and call it good huh?
Here's my opinion,
Pick up your skirt, grab your balls, and get a Carerra GT. ;)

I sell data storage for a company called EMC. It is a pretty good gig, but I travel A LOT. I am gone three days a week usually and it sucks. But I love what I do and would not want to do anything else.

With all this talk about bad B6 resale, blah blah...if someone is willing to buy your S4 at a price you like (and not getting raped by trading it), then sell. I love my S4 but I am almost positive I'll be ready for a different beast in a couple years.

ah, thats an old man "kick back and slam the throttle because its better than viagra" car. i wouldnt drive one of those until i was atleast 40 or 50. its all about fun cars when you are young, and S4s and GT3s are it.

SL65's an old man's car man? [:D]
I must be pretty old then. Of all the 65 series - I like the SL the best. I think the Coupe is actually for older people but the SL still has a youthful flair. Plus who can deny a biturbo v12 that you can chip to have 770hp and 1000 ftlbs of tq?

Totally agreed !! [:D]
JetBlue, I think you should go for the GT3, but the only doubt I would have if I were in your place, would be either to or not to wait for the new GT3 (it should be coming soon, since the new Carrera has already been lauched.. [:)] )
Anyway, good luck in your decision ! [;)]
