is the 2000 TT available with quattro or is it strickly fwd for its first year of production? Also how is your realiability anyone who has a 2000 year? I've been reading on MSNauto about all these people who are upset with the "horrible" electrical problems, and dealer service (my mom has an S4 so I unfortunately know that the last part is true), interior rattles after so many miles, blah, blah, blah. So please give this potential buyer your honest opinion on owning your TT. This will only be the second car I've owned, and need it to be fairly dependable for 4 years until I get my mom's car. I'm debating between this and a 2000 A4 FYI.

So give me some insight all your help is greatly appreciated!

i purchased a 2000 TT last june with 38 k on the odometer. it now has 91k and the problems i have experienced have been minimal. there are a few recalls you should ask the seller about (the suspension will carry a bad reputation around dealerships secondary to several TTs flying off the autobahn in 2000; and the rear spoiler absence--most enthusiasts here will tell you to forget both of these. i agree).

mine is a quattro. i think all of the 2000s are 180 hp, some are quattro, some fwd and only the first half of the year's production have the spolier.

its a good car and each time i drive it, im happy with my choice. its not the fastest car on the road (by mods can be helpful) but the interior is awesome. audi builds their cars from the inside out, not the other way around. i can honestly and proudly suggest this car to people who ask. i still get stopped by strangers that gawk and ask questions about the car.

Correct. All 2000 TT's are 180 HP, available in Quattro or FWD variant. 225HP became available in 2001. As for problems, there were some Techincal Service bulletins and one recall (optional) for the rear spoiler/revised front control arms. My 2001 180HP Quattro TT was a nightmare, lots of electrical/mechanical problems. Other friends of mine have had similar issues, and other friends of mine had no issues. I would ask for a full and through detail of the car's maintenance records before committing.
