Hello Guys,

So, tonight I was supposed to pick up my car, but the dealer said that the other dealer they were "Car swapping" with for my vehicle didn't have the paperwork in order and that it will be either tomorrrow or Wednesday.

One thing else I was just told:

DEALER: "Oh, by the way, we just looked at the paperwork faxed to us and this car has an upgraded 4 spoke steering wheel with controls."

ME: "What was wrong with the 3 spoke S4 wheel?"

DEALER: "Nothing, this car was configured with this wheel - probably for use with a cell phone, or probably the driver wanted the radio controls mounted."

ME: "Sounds expensive."

DEALER: "Nah. We are providing it to you at the numbers already agreed upon."

Now - my question for all of you is this. Does anyone have this wheel? Is it as plush as the S4 stock wheel? Does it have the S4 logo on it?

Should I look into having them swap it out?

Thanks.
Chris

Your from E46fanatics.com right? I read your post in the "Off Topic" section about getting a new S4, congrats on the purchase. I've been doing some research lately and am thinking of following in your foot steps. Best of luck with the new ride!

Yep - an E46 Fanatic. Although I"m not a "BMW is god" guy.

Give me a week and I'll give you the unbiased S4 review. [:D]

BMW's will always hold a special place in my heart, but $hit if you can get a car that performs equal to an M3 for roughly 10K less, sign me up! I look foward to your "unbiased" review.

I have the multi function steering wheel. I wouldnt have ordered it but the car I wanted had it. It took about 5 minutes to get used to it. I actually kind of like having the radio volume controls on it. I had the 3 spoke wheel on my A4 and don't think it was any better.

Thanks SBGirl. Am I a snob to notice that there is no S4 logo on your wheel? Is the S4 3 spoke the same as the A4 3 spoke? I know the BMW M3 is plusher than the sport package 3 spoke.

Also, with the automaic model, I was looking forward to the paddle shifters.

Are the cruise control controls on the opposite side of the radio controls?

The 3 spoke was the same in my A4 as in the S4 other than the S4 logo on the bottom. My A4 was the 3.0 with the premium package so that may be why it is the same.
The buttons on the right are the radio volume and the Onstar phone. The left is radio channels and navigation.

Heres a pic of the 3 spoke S4 steering wheel.

Hmmm.... I think I like the 3 spoke better. And, as I do not have the Onstar or Nav package available in this car.

Thanks for the helpfull info. I'll call the parts dept tomorrow to see if they can order me a 3 spoke and what it will cost to install. [:)]

Make sure you get the three spoke with the Tip. The paddle shifters make the car.

[:(] parts dept wants 1700 for the wheel and new airbag. And that DOESN'T include labor!! Well out of my price range. [:(]

To really rub salt in the wound, when I asked why we can't rade whell and airbags - he said that this is mostly a useless part they have no demand for. (meaning the 4 spoke wheel and airbag).

Now I have to decide if I want to take the car. Will go look at it tonight. I am in such a sour mood.
