Evolution Thor Skid Plate GB request

Please allow us to get a group buy going. I just spoke to the owner of Evolution and he was very helpful. Niel is going to stop by the forum next week and answer any questions we might have. He had never heard of our beloved forum, so lets welcome him with open arms!

That being said...

I was looking for an alternative to the Panzer skid plate. If we get a group buy of 20 people or more people, Niel at Evo will give us a 10% discount, down to $225. I've never organized one and don't have the time, but it's out there as an option.

At this point I'd have to vote for the lesser known Evo one over the more well known dieselgeek/panzer, because:

1. The plate is 5052 grade aluminum and is 4.8mm (.191 inches) thick. That's a 50% increase in thickness.
2. Added aluminum supports to keep fender liner from pulling out towards your tire.
3. Doesn't use 1/4 turn fasteners, but more of a traditional bolt style.

"Our Thor skid plate will fit your car as long as the front center bolt
location on your is a metal bracket and not plastic. I've sold lots of them
to 2003 Audi A4 owners so yours shouldn't be any different."

If Anthony is wiling to let this GB proceed, I can email the company and try and finish off the GB (or if another want to do it, it is in the air). The OP of this thread said that he does not have time to conduct the GB, plus he would not know how to go about it. If people want, I can email (or call) that company and inquire any more questions people might have. So, post them up[up].

I know the major question is the shipping prices. And I don't know if any other besides me always wonders about warranty info, but that is usually one of my biggies when purchasing items. Any more questions I should ask?

And it does not look like I will be in the GB. I just came back from a vacation from FL and that little trip cost me more than expected. Took a good $500+ out from my pockets and I still have a $575 bill coming in the mail for my credit card (car rental).

The OP is no longer doing this GB. He told me a while ago that he does not have the time for it and would not know how to properly go about it. As I already stated, if people want the GB to proceed and Anthony permits it (because there are no AZ advertisers whom offer this product. Winston said that he is in the process of making one. but he said that a while ago and is not his main priority right now due to other projects, so whom knows when the release date will be[confused]), then I can email the skid plate companies and inquire about how to go about the GB, what are the conditions, how would payment be, how much shipping would be, warranty information, etc. The GB can proceed if Anthony permits it, but the OP of this thread is no longer in charge of this thread (I talked to him a couple months ago and this is what he told me). So, post up if you guys want me to try and make contact with the Evo skid plate people, and get this GB rolling (with permission from Anthony).

In the original post, it says that it will be $225 if there we can get 20 people on board. I will email Evo and Deisel Geek to see what deals they can work out. I will post back up when I get a response from both companies, terms, warranty, shipping charges, how to go about payment, etc.

Edit: On a quick trip to deiselgeek, I noticed that the Panzer plate fits the A4 and S4 for the B5 chasis. And they offer a panzer plate for the B6/B7 A4 at the same price (does not fit S4). I will ask if in the inquiry if he can add those to the list (since it is the same price), as it might be hard to generate enough interest for just the B5 chasis.

Edit: I just recieved a response from the Evo guys, and they said that they can do a GB if we get 30 people on board. I responded stating that number may be rather hard to attain, and requested if it can be reduced to 20. I am going to wait for a response. If they agree to the 20, I am not sure what the price offered shipped will be. But hopefully I will find out soon. Just trying to keep you guys updated[cool].

And to Anthony, if you need this group buy to be conducted by a vendor then I will ask someone one to do so. But please do not close this thread, because I will try and adhere to AZ rules. The thing is that no vendors offer this unit. Winston is the closest person, but has not completed it yet. If this GB needs a vendor to conduct it, please PM me and I will ask one of the vendors to host the GB as to adhere to the rules. Thanks!

Update: The Evo guys said that this GB is a go. It is the same deal as posted in the original post at $225+shipping if we can get 20 people minimum. They said that they have a warehouse in the US and Canada. If you live in the US, it is shipped from the US. And if you live in Can, it is shipped from Can. He said not to purchase it on the website. After we get 20 people involved, I guess I contact him afterwards. Here is the email.

As far as I know, this skid plate will fit on the B5 A4, B5 S4, and B6 A4 (in post #7, it says that it can fit the b6 A4).

I am going to start another thread, because it would be much easier to have everything in the first post. Unless people read this thread, they would not know what went on and whom is actually conducting it.

And note, if Anthony decides to lock this thread (or the new one I will post) due to it going against AZ guidelines, I will ask a vendor to conduct the GB so that it can still happen. Having a vendor do it may actually generate more interest also, so I think I am going to go and find one anyways. But in the meantime, I will edit this post with a link to the new thread[cool].
