Anyone have a credible source for information on this topic?
It'll be my next car if it does come.

No TT-RS but we will be getting the RS5 which, IMO, is going to be an all around much better car then the TT-RS.

bold statement, i would tend to agree with you on that one, but that new engine in the tt-rs, i see alot of potential in it. its been a while since they used that type of engine. i think the urs4/s6's were the last to use an inline motor. those motors were made into monsters, i could only imagine what the new motor will do.

straight out of the box, the rs5 would be better imo, but that motor in the tt-rs seems promising

I'm with audirs.... there is a lot more potential in the TT-RS, especially with that turbo five cylinder and I'd take the TT-RS over the RS5.

Maybe because I just loooooove the sound of this engine as it sounds almost like the original turbo 2.2L 5-cylinder.

update:

just called a local dealer and they say the TT-RS WILL be coming as a 2010 model.
whomever has the opposite info, where did you get that? i'm inclined to believe
the dealer at this point.

You know, this reminds me of an article by Jim Kenzie in the Toronto Star last weekend. At the end of article, it stated that "travel was provided to freelance writer Jim Kenzie by the automaker".

Hmmmm, why would Audi fly Jim out to Belgium to test drive the TT RS... is there the chance that this is coming after all?!?? One thing for sure, he does nto mention that the car *isn't* coming to Canada but doesn't mention it is, only that the pricing would come out later this year. Interesting.

how do you all know this? They just unveiled it, and haven't officially announced an RS5 yet.

What am I missing!!! [:D]

In an interview with the product manager on Fourtitude IIRC, the B8 RS4 would not be coming to North America as they'll be sticking with the avant, and instead, they'll bring over the RS5.

This is just what an employee at my local dealership told me about a month ago, so take it with a grain of salt. He said he was 90% sure the TT-RS won't be coming to Canada and 90% that the RS5 will be (to replace the RS4). He could very well be wrong on both counts but personally I'm hoping he got the RS5 part right and was misinformed on the TT-RS. Regardless, I still think the RS5 is going to be the all around better car, it looks absolutely gorgeous in the spy video, and it was tearing around the Nurburgring.

well there is no B8 RS4...so it's definitely not coming!

Just saying nothing is final till it's final. The B7 RS4 wasn't even supposed to exist in sedan format until Audi made a late 180 degree turn. It was originally supposed to be, like the B5 RS4, just an Avant. Then they decided that with the success of the RS6 sedan (again made for ROW) that they should launch an RS4 sedan. Everyone in North America was bitching at first ... aww come on....not RS4 again? but we were surprised, positively. I'm glad they changed their mind!

RS5 should be fun. Looks kind of awful in the videos doesn't it? Missing parts...different colour panels. Frankenstein still. Has anyone seen a better pic?

Isn't it funny how screwed we get on Audi product? think about the lineup of cars we DON'T get...it'd be an awesome car brand on its own.

RS6 Sedan and Avant
RS4 Avant (B7) and previously the B5 RS4
A3 2 door hatch
A8/A6/A5/A4/Q5 diesel
A4/A6 allroads
A2
A1 (coming soon...to Europe)

what else did I miss?!

nice. that's an awesome list of cars. wtf!!!

actually you just need to read Audi's annual summary (kind of like an annual report) to understand why we get shit. I think the US isn't even 1st or 2nd in Audi's sales numbers...even if you add lowly Canada in. No wonder we're such an afterthought. When they lump Canada in with the US, and the biggest market (by far) in the US is California....and California has the strongest emissions standards...you can quickly see why they say FUK IT!

At this time Audi AG has not decided if they will offer the TT RS in North America. I know there was reports on Fortitude of a Canadian journalist saying it was coming to Canada, but it was just speculation.

Hey, if you want to listen to a 2.2L 5-cyl, come on over to my office. My father-in-law has his UrS4 around pretty much everyday. That "whoopee-ball" warble is odd at times - opposite of what your mind expects as "smooth".

Funny because my dealership told me today that it is highly unlikely the TT-RS will be coming as a 2010 model. For various different reasons we went over that quite seem to make sense to me. They might keep it around for a line refresh in 2011 and that seems to make sense to me

This is straight from AC's TT product planner:

Exactly, it isn't until Audi AG gives the green light for the TT-RS and they haven't.

At any rate, more TT-RS awesomeness...
