What is the difference between D1S, D2S, and D3S?

D1S: bulb with ignitor at base
D2S: bulb only
D3S: ignitor at base, and non-mercury bulb. look identical with D1S.

too bad for most of 2009 model, have to use more expensive D3S

Thanks for clearing that up. So if you do have factory HIDs then which one do you get? I am not a professional in HIDs sorry if the question is silly to you guys~~

I'd really like to see a group buy on either the Philips 85122CM bulbs or the Philips Crystal Vision D2S 5000K bulbs.

There are a lot of B5 A4/S4 & C5 A6/S6/allroad/RS6 owners who would benefit from the upgrade.

At the right price I would definitely be down to get a set of 6000k D1S bulbs, but i definitely want a reputable company. Phillips or Osram

I tried to ordered mine through Philips Xenons and they wanted $400 for a set of 6000K D1S. A bit too steep for me.

I'm not sure I understand this correctly, so the D1s and D3s are identical physically? Can I use the D1s on 2009 A4 B8?

thanks

Unfortunately not.

D1S and D3S look very similar but the connector is slightly different.

D1S works on 85 volts and D3S on 42 volts. Both types are not interchangable.
