Just received my July 2009 C&D--issue not on their site yet.

Audi Q5 first by a wide margin over the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Lexus RX, and MB GLK350.

Key advantages: the interior and fit & finish. Also preferred the handling over all others except the BMW, and it tied the Volvo for quickest.

OTOH, in terms of "fun to drive" they scored the BMW highest by a fairly wide margin. But they thought the BMW was too expensive and too cheap-feeling inside.

Wouldn't that also be what would happen if the 3-Series was the best car in its segment? If the 3-Series one half the time and the A4 won half the time, that would be harder to explain.

At any rate, the Audi won this time.

Dang, you beat me to it. :)

Glad to see Audi win one. I much prefer my S4 to the 335 that I test drove, and Audi interiors are second to none in their class.

Hopefully this is the beginning of a trend! :)

BMW's X3 is quite old. 6 years old. It's based on the E46 and not made by BMW. Next year you'll see the new X3 and the interior should improve significantly.

X3 is the only vehicle to offer a 6MT in this segment. That alone appeals to enthusiasts. Let's see if BMW continues to offer manual.

I like the Q5. But where are the sport suspension and sport seats?

Motor Trend had a comparison test as well.

1. Audi Q5 3.2 quattro
2. Volvo XC60 T6
3. Lexus RX350
4. Mercedes Benz GLK350

While on the topic, they also had a comparison test between the Acura TL SH-AWD and the Audi A4 3.2 quattro.
