Up next, get rid of the "Winking" DRL LED when your turning signal is in use. A little less detail this time as it follows the same format as the convenience windows post.

In controller 9-Cent. Elect. using the Long Coding Helper and selecting Byte 3 you want to make sure Bit 7 (Daytime Running Light inactive with Turn Signal ("winking") active) is unchecked. (You can see below that the default setting on my car was that Bit 7 was checked.)

Once you have exited the Long Coding Helper and chosen to Do It! in the Recode Module, your LED DRL will remain on instead of turning off while you are indicating.

I see your Byte 3 hex reading was "96" before the change
What hex reading you got after unchecking bit 7 ??

I have an A4, but today I activated the DRLs for a friend who has a Q5
I followed the procedure described for the A4 and it seemed to work fine, but curiously enough, his LEDs brightness is now insane (superbright)
His original Hex reading at Byte 3 was "80" (which stands for "DRLs deactivated")
I changed it to "15" (as we do on our A4s to activate the DRLs)
Indeed I activated his DRLs and the corresponding on-screen menu ("car" menu)
but I guess I am missing something here because they are too bright !!

PS: I made a lot of VAG tweaks on that Q5 and ALL worked fine,
I can post a list of the successful tweaks if anybody is interested

According to my last scan, Byte 3 is 17.

When you say "his LEDs brightness is now insane (superbright)", do you mean when the LED DRL are on by themselves or when they are on with the headlights?

If you are referring to the brightness of the LED DRL with the headlights on, you can adjust this in Adaptation Channel 3. The factory setting in North America is 7%.

"Adjust LED Brightness

This will allow you to change the intensity of the LED's when your headlights are on. By default the LED's are only 8-9% or brightness.

[09 Cent. Elect.]
[Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
[Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
Enter new value for LED brightness i.e. "100" If you want LED's at 100%.
Values bellow 5 turns the LED's off and generates an error code and warning in DIS"

Audizine member DavidB8 has his own site with great instructions here: http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagCom.html

If you are suggesting that the LED DRL are "now insane (superbright)" just when the LED DRL is on by itself, I haven't seen any way of adjusting this. Besides, you would want them superbright in the day so you can be seen.

Most of the B8 A4 mods apply to the Q5 as well. Have fun in the garage tonight!

yes they do

a VAG COM cable is a must for me

Here are some confirmed A4 mods/tweaks I sucessfully applied to the Q5:

- Activating phone voice command (my country has it disabled by default)
- Activating the LEDs as daytime running lights (again, factory disabled in my country)

- Activating on-screen AMBIANCE LIGHT REGULATION (CAR menu screen)
- Activating on-screen BATTERY LEVEL (CAR menu screen)

- Passenger side mirror auto tilt when reverse
- Sports Needle sweep when turning on the engine

- Actvating the dashboard lap timer
- Disable seatbelt chime

I didn't make the fuel consumption change (from L/100 km to km/L) but my bet is it is possible too, the owner of the Q5 just didn't want that change done
Also, I am nearly sure the TPMS can be activated too, just like I did on my A4

Hello,

Could you tell me the codes to activate the DRLs because I can not activate it. ( Audi Q5 FSI 2.0 )

Here are the codes I've changed. ( Vagcom 10.6 )

In byte 2: Binary: 11011110 "DE" (hexadecimal)

Bit 1 = check. (DRLs via front side market lights active)
Bit 2 = check. (DRLs via high beams active)
Bit 3 = uncheck. (DRLs via fog flights active))
Bit 4 = check. (DRLs via DRL LED active)
Bit 6 = uncheck. (DRLs via side marker lights active)
Bit 7 = uncheck. (DRLs via tail lights active)

In Byte 3: Binary: 10000101 "85" (hexadecimal)

Bit 0 = check (DRLs adjudtable via menu MMI/car)
Bit 2 = uncheck (DRLs with parking lights inactive)
Bit 7 = uncheck (DRLs inactive with turn signal "winking" active

In byte 10: Binary: 00001000 "08" (hexadecimal)

Bit 3 = uncheck ( side market lights Nord America an region installed

Thank you for your help...

these should be the same for the 2012, right?

Exactly the same.

and i know in my c7 that nothing is labeled, but I'm doing a 2012 q5 tonight and i was wondering if that would be labeled in vcds

Did you make changes to your C7? Everything I changed came from the coding of the B8. Even if the 2012 Q5 isn't labelled, the coding will still be the same.

fdot

yes it was the same, but the labels make it so much easier because for example, the seatbelt chime says check seat belt chime and not bit 3 etc

success, it had the labels

Maybe, but to them it was officially forbidden to work

I heard somewhere that in NA it is required that the LED's shut off when a turn signal is activated so you can better see the signal flashing without being "dazzled" by the LED's. Makes sense, but who really cares? That's what the mirror signal is for.

It's the same in Europe. That's the idea of the Audi engineers, because they did
