With a new design study, AUDI celebrates its DTM successes from the past year. The brand won all three possible titles in the 2004 season. The new AUDI A4 DTM edition, which was developed by quattro GmbH, was built for the customers who want to build upon the already sporty A4.

The AUDI A4 DTM edition is propelled by a 2.0-liter turbocharged FSI 4-cylinder. The power of the turbocharged FSI engine has been raised from 200 to 220 HP, the torque 280 to 300 Nm. The chassis from quattro GmbH was lowered by 20 millimeters for a lower stance, combined with tauter springs and shock absorbers in consideration of the increased engine performance. The A4 DTM edition is fitted with new 18-inch wheels in a multi-spoke design with a similar look to the wheels on the DTM racecar. The brake discs at the front of the car are also drilled – a further knod to the series.

The exterior of this new special edition A4 sedan offers more visual dynamics. Outwardly the A4 differs in many ways – starting with a DTM badge on the protection strip of the rear door. The single-frame grille is finished in phantom black , which is also used in the new bumper design and side mirrors. Additional air intakes at both the front and the back add to the sporty look. You’ll also recognize carbon fiber chin lip spoiler at the front and a matching carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler at the rear. Finally, a sport exhaust exits at the rear with 100 millimeter increase in diameter, through a rear bumper defuser developed through racing.

Sporty and elegant are the interior. Door sills are marked with the AUDI A4 DTM edition logo. The logo is carried over on the floor mats, which are further accented by silver piping. Recaro sport seats are finished in leather and Alcantara. Alcantara is also used to finish the three-spoke steering wheel, shift knob and emergency brake handle. From the AUDI S4, carbon fiber interior trim completes the look.

Standard equipment for the AUDI A4 DTM edition includes among other things Xenon headlights, automatic climate control, dual front airbags, side airbags, ESP and active head restraints.

The 2004 DTM Season was a triumphant one for AUDI. In the first year of participation as a factory team, AUDI won all three titles with a new racecar. Mattias Ekstrom secured himself as winner the driver’s championship, the Abt crew won the team championship and AUDI won the brand championship.

While the vehicle on display is a design study, sales of the vehicle presented are planned for the start of the 2005 DTM season.
