So I've known my seals were going for a while and I decided to save for a new motor instead of new gaskets. A new motor would fix all my current issues with my car... other than it's slow [:p]

So I'm driving down Murray Blvd. taking the girlfriend home when I hear this grinding noise and the car doesn't respond to the engine... WTF... I come to a stop, hop out and take a peek. There is tranny fluid and oil e v e r y w h e r e ! [eek]
So yeah, needless to say it's sitting now. I'll be looking for a new 2.8 12V starting...

NOW!

I'll see if I can get some pics. You guys will love this [:D]

Cable, how much is involved with the TT swap? I'm looking to keep the parts and labor bills under $1500.00 each, can the TT swap be done for less than $3000.00?

Any other ideas are welcome! But please keep the price in mind as I'm getting married in Febuary and will have a bill from that too.

It sits at Matrix as I type.

It looks like it's just three oil seals and the front axles... nothing major.

It would take more time than I want to spend to accurately price it but, a rough stab at it might come close to your $3K budget.

Tranny - bolts up.

Driveshafts - bolt up.

Engine - bolts up. (need to purchase)

ECU - Need to purchase.

Anciliary items - Need to purchase (Air box, upper Y, accordian hose, etc.)

Exhaust - Need to purchase (although I know of a few stock units that coule be had for cheap)

Turbos - Need to purchase (I could get you a set of K03's for dirt cheap)

I would imagine that a swap with many second hand parts sourced through the local community would put you in the $3500-$4500 range. That would not include an install. Nor would it guranatee the engines integrity. The motor I know of has +60K on it and it would be wise to do a timing belt change as well. With all of that said unless you are an exteremly hands on guy (i.e. do the swap yourself) and are willing to put in the time and effort to get it done (allowing more than a month for all of the sourcing and misc. parts) you might just want to fix your current issue before creating a new yet entirely different one.

Thanks Colin, that's why I trust them [:)]

Cable, Matrix was saying the TT motor is a transverse mount... Basically my entire drive system would need to go right?

I think there is a miscommunication here. I am talking about an S4 TT (twin turbo 2.7l S4 motor) not a TT (2 door coupe 1.8T motor).

I was commenting as if your car was a quattro A4, isin't it?

hey cable, how much of more difficult would the 2.7T swap be if the car isn't quattro and isnt a manual.

thanks
