I spoke to the folks at Performance Oil Store (http://www.performanceoilstore.com/index.htm) about getting a club discount for us. He said if there was some interest, he would give us a code good for 10% discounts store-wide. Here it is:

Here is your discount code that is good for an additional 10% discount store-wide:

They seem to carry many of the VW/Audi 502.00 & 505.01 approved (http://www.audiusa.com/etc/medialib/cms4imp/audi2/aoa/company/aoa-specific.Par.0023.File.pdf) European synthetics that are not always easily available in the US, such as:

Elf Excellium DID SAE 5W-40
Elf Excellium NF SAE 5W-40
Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40
Motul 8100 X-max 5W-30
Motul 8100 X-clean 5W-40
Total Quartz INEO MC3 5W-30

OMFG, I just picked up some Motul Oil, 8 quarts a little over $100. I am definitely interested in this since it seems I end up changing my oil every 2 months or so for the amount of driving I do.

I think someone local can get the elf/Total brand of oils. I'm thinking bout getting some Total Quartz for me next oil change.

What's the difference between American and European synthetic oil?

The answer seems to be yes and yes. If you go to their website and click on "VW oils" you'll see the 1L and 5L bottles have case discounts listed under them. And they apparently sell drums or barrels, too.

That's a really broad question. For the purposes of this thread, let's just say American oils are readily available almost everywhere in the US, while the european oils are not.

I don't want this to degenerate into a "which oil is best/worst" thread, but by searching for the Elf, Motul or Total brand names on AZ or AW, you can judge for yourself [up]

What's the deal with this for shipping to Canada?

Myself and my dad (B6/CQ and B7) and perhaps my brother (mkIV) would be interested if the price was right.

I have a good local source for Total/ELF but Motul is a PITA to find locally without reaching for my ankles. Though at the right price I'd buy whichever in bulk (drum/barrel quantity).

This was posted on vortex: "Total Quartz MC3 5w30: pelicanparts.com has it for $7.25/liter, $34.74/5 liter and free shipping on orders $75 and up"

(KingofNYC also gets a good deal every so often on Total Quartz 9000, for anyone local to Queens NY)

Can anyone give me a filter part number or link? Also, what coolant do we use and do any of these sites posted here carry it?

Not bad at all [up] How much is shipping or can you get free S&H above a certain $ amount?

If you can get a 'club discount' code for us, that would be even better.

Performance Oils carries coolant from what I can see. The B7 forum should have all your vehicle-specific info

A4 guy chiming in....

1 Qt does not = 1 L

for example in my 1.8T 4.5 Quarts = 4.2 L.

I suppose it's not a huge deal, just have to be careful when using measurements on the side of the bottles.

I can get it from my buddy's shop right down the street anytime. The 5% savings isn't enough for me to order it especially if I have to store the oil. Anyway's that place charges 10% more than I get my oil for, but it's a good link for anyone who can't find euro oil.
