Went to look at one tonight. OMG! They got the look right again after the mistake with the 996. I can't wait to drive one.

When I bought my S4 two weeks ago, the two cars in the entire showroom were mine and a black, loaded ($8k brake option) Carrera S 997. It was sick. I felt good knowing that they had mine in the display WITH it! VERY VERY much improved interior.

If I had an S4 that would be an option, new 997 is gorgeous.

I had an experience with one the other night--meant to post about it. It lasted only about 1 mile through stop lights and curves, but I was really happy with the S4 (finally getting to open it up a little) and was actually going to pass the guy in the 997 on a curve before he cut me off!!!!

Yeah get rid of the Escalade and Cherokee. One SUV is enough, and that's the Touareg. [:)]

I would go for 997 if they don't release the RS4 B7 within these two years.

Actually, I've been talking with my wife. There's quite a decent chance that, in May, after my house is finished... and 4 car garage... it will house the following:
MY 2004 S4 with good stuff on it.
MY 2005 997 S
HER 2000 Saab 9-3 SE Turbo
MY 1996 Land Rover Disco (has winch and bull bar... I sell land and it GOES)
I have all that now, but I just made a lucrative deal which will close in 30-60 days. It'll get me sitting at the Porsche ordering table if all goes through. Let's hope!

I need the Escalade because we have 4 kids. The Touareg is my daily driver because I always have my MTB with me. I don't think I can justify the S4 with the 997 to myself. Maybe I am just not trying hard enough![:D]
I did just see the new Boxster as well. They fixed the front end on it, but if I am going to go it will be all the way.

Yeah you gotta go with the 997 for sure, none of this Boxster nonsense. [:p]
You can't fit four kids into the T-reg?

Ummm, let me think...
No!
Actually I have my GF drive the Escalade since she handles the kids while I am working.

You guys would rather have a 997 at $87k than an S4? I mean for that you could almost buy an S4 and a new ZO6.

Well that would be hard since the new ZO6 isn't out yet. [:p] Though, I would kill for one when they come out. Gonna be at least 500hp.
I don't know about a 997 instead of and S. I don't think I would trade. Now, if I had the money for both that would be a different story...

I know the new ZO6 isn't out yet. My point was just that it's difficult to compare to cars when one is almost twice the cost of the other. If you are going on looks alone, yeah the 997 is a beautiful car. If you have $80k to spend and you buy an S4 and plow $30+k into an S4 it will eat a stock 997. Or, buy an S4 and keep $30+k in your pocket. My point is that it is not a completely fair comparison because of the pricing disparity.
Would you guys do the new M5 or the 997--that is a more even pricing comparison but I don't think there is one person out there that would take a 997 over the new M5 (yes, I know that one is not out yet either).
Redundant

Personally the look of the B6/8E is far better then the looks of the 997. Now if it was a B6/8E versus a 996 I would have to go the other way. Since a Porsche is a Porsche I would only go with the 997 for the name and performance not looks.

I know what your point was, just messing with you.
With that extra 30k you could slap on the MTM supercharger (supposedly around 25k [eek]) and some HREs and be an Audi god. 997 and S4 are completely different. It all depends on what you wan the car for. Personally I like sedans.
Or you could buy a C6 Vette and send it to Lingenfelter for some twin turbo love. [cool] [:p]
Oh yeah, I would probably take the 997 over the M5. Just too damn ugly for me.

Do you think modding your car with something as major as a supercharger is worth voiding your new car warranty?
I mean, don't get me wrong I would love the horsepower, but I still have 3 years and 11 months left and I would have a tough time doing it unless I was loaded with cash.

I don't think your math is correct. The C6 Z06 will be a $60K car. Add to that say $48 for the S4 and you are at $108K.
That's almost enough for a 997 S and an EVO RS ($26K). I'd rather have those 2 than the S4 and Corvette.

I would rather have a C6 Z06 and a S4. [:p] The Z06 is going to own just about everything in a straight line or on the track. 500hp+ with excellent handling. Can't beat that especially for the price. I think they will be a little less than 60k since the base is 44k. We'll see though.
Maybe you just really like awd. Then again, who knows how much longer Mitsu is going to be in business. [eek]

I think the Z06 and 997S are two completely different cars. I would have trouble driving a Z06 just because of the image associated with them. I do not have slicked back hair or wear gold chains![;)] The performance is astounding and I do really like the new look though.

Yeah, I hear ya.
But just think of all the possibilities. 500 hp NA 6.0L motor. Some fairly minor mods and you could have 700hp easy.
The 997 is hot, but then again I don't know if you could handle the image of yuppy euro trash who has been handed everthing they have. [:p]
I don't think they are that different of cars purpose-wise. Both meant to go fast and handle, just through different means.
