View Full Version : Folks in San Diego/La Jolla - have friend stranded...needs coilpack
Just got a call from an old bud of mine with 04 Ultrasport. Decided not to listen to me a while back when I recommended he keep 2 coilpacks in the trunk. Currently 7pm and he's stuck at a Exxon Mobil in La Jolla (believe one right off I-5/La Jolla Village) with typical CP failure symptoms. Audi dealer closed and he needs to eventually get back downtown. I now live in Denver so can't really help.
Anyone willing to help him out with supply of CP and swapping bad out with good? He's never done it before, engine bay pretty foreign to him. He'll pay you in cash or I can paypal you in advance.
What are consequences if he drove on 3-cyl for 15mi or so?
Thanks much for any help.

I drove on a bad coilpack in my old car for ~15 miles to my shop, it got there and my mechanic said no damage after he swapped the bad pack and checked it out. It's just a bit hard to get going. Best of luck to your friend. [up]

Hit me up if you need'em
Tina and her friend Tony are true saints. Drove all the way from Poway and provided friend with complimentary CP's...all within an hr!!! It's so refreshing to witness this type of rare generosity.
Audi love here on AZ is so strong. Just hope I get the chance to help someone out here in Denver to keep the cycle flowing.
Tina organizes meets in Irvine...be there!
Thanks too all others for offered help!

oh sweet!! Awesome stuff Tina!!
One of my coilpacks had gone out actually when i was on my way home from work today. Drove like 12 miles to the dealer in Miramar and got it taken care off. I went ahead and replaced the rest of them cause i didnt want the other ones to eventually go bad. 2nd one i had replaced in the past month. I guess it was just that time.
Anyways good stuff though Tina!!
