anyone been in for service w/ a chip?

just wondering if anybody has actually been in for service with a chip. I want to order the GIAC now, but I'm skeptical about it being 'invisible' to the dealer. if anything goes wrong it just seems like a big gamble - losing your warranty on something that should be covered just because of a chip. maybe I'm just not a very trusting person....[;)] tho it seems like a pretty nice mod for the price.
