I was pulled over on my way to school this morning for my window tint. I have read places where cops cannot pull you over only for having your windows tinted. Is that a true statement? I would like to fight this because it is a $105 ticket. My windows came up as 16% tint and i believe the max is 70% all around. Any help is appreciated.

you have to check local laws...

sorry bud.

but if you have 16% tint... i definately think you should not be driving the vehicle.

if your windows are 16% you are screwed. That's illegal in every state.

check your laws but the commissioner of our city told me that "anything aftermarket is illegal." 16% is asking for trouble. I'm at 25% and only been harassed about it once, and I was going through a sobriety check point.

I thought it was legal to have all the windows tinted except for the winshield in PA

It is not illegal in every state to have your windows tinted that much. I had 2 1/2 % on my truck registered in PA and never had an issue. I to thought it was legal to have tint and had passed inspection in PA with it.

I was pulled over and given a warning a couple of years ago in my Mustang. The cop showed me the memo that he was given that listed the specifics.

On a car you can not have the front side windows or the rear windows tinted past something like 70%, or what is basically stock. IIRC he also pointed out my coupe windows and said that they could not be tinted either.

He did say that trucks could have their rear window as much as they wanted, as long as they had two mirros. I am not sure what he said about the sides for trucks.

After reading up on the issue it seems that the law is not clearly stated 70%.

Window Tinting is Legal in Pennsylvania because neither the Statute, which the legislature has enacted according to the will of the people, nor the Regulation, which the Administration has passed to clarify the law, prohibit it.
TITLE 75 Section 4524 (e)(1) of the Pennsylvania Common Statutes states that
(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle.
Note that the law only prohibits tinting which prevents a person from seeing or viewing the inside of the vehicle. It does not prohibit all tinting or tinting below 70%.
The Law therefore implicitly permits any tinting which does not prevent a person from seeing or viewing the inside of the vehicle.
