Well not that any of you really know, but I don't really work. I used to be a full time civil engineer working on new home construction, but got bored of that. So I quit a few years ago and have been enjoying life. I am bored again though and needed something to occupy my time, and get my woman off my back. Now that industry is completely gone, so I had to find something new to do. I used to repo when I was in my early 20's and loved it. I decided to get back into it and started looking into the local companies again. I have to say this economy might suck overall right now, but business is beyond great for the repo man. As I type this I have 46 cars that are waiting for me to get them. All emailed to me this morning. It really is easy work and people nowadays just give you keys cause they know you are coming. I make my own hours and get to think outside the box to find certain things. Just thought I would share. If you guys are ever in town and want to join in the fun, just let me know.
Oh yeah, and I actually drive my A6 4.2 around when I am doing this. [:p]

Just find a company that does it and ask for a job. It really isn't that hard. The industry caters to scum honestly. You have to be ready to deal with some real pieces of shit. I guess it kinda puts your life in danger. I never got into a fight or anything. I got shot at once in Harvey IL, when I was lifting a car a few years back. Overall all it isn't that bad, you just kind of have to know what your getting into. The flip side though....easy money and the money is good. [:D]

Funny you bring this up. I looked into it a while back but for some reason did not pursue. I am actually working on updating my resume as I type. I have been in the real estate business for the past 7yrs but obviously given the market its an uphill battle.
Yankin cars, boats, ATV, ect would be fun. We should talk. Im also not far, in Minneapolis, I could come and check it out.

I was reading an article the other day on some of the new rigs they have for nabbing cars. They can literally pull a car out of a tight parallel park in 12 seconds. Insane.
Yeah I read that in a magazine yesterday. It's called the Element, IIRC. 8 seconds parked head on.

I used to tow, and we had a contract with the police dept, and the highway patrol. It was a fun time, and I really enjoyed it. We did everything from jump starts and tire changes, to fatal multi car crashes. But I saw way too many innocent people hurt by others stupid mistakes. So I had to get out of it before I got too cynical. Although we did do private impounds (when others leave cars on private property without permission), and imponds for the law agencies, but we never did repo work.

Im looking into opening a loan modification net branch. All the people in foreclosure need some help. Not even that, people that just got into shitty loans from gready mortgage brokers. All these people need help. My traditional real estate business has been slow and writing loans sucks so maybe this will be a great opportunity.

I think a lot of people will have to switch to more physical and manual jobs if there are any of those left......

Good thing you don't have to chase down any fast cars, eh?
[I'm "freelancing", too, not a good time....]

Never have to chase anything. I just found this PORSCHE 911 earlier that I'm going to try and pick up some time tomorrow. That should be a fun ride to the lot....Maybe I will keep that one around for a few days. I've been trying to get this guy at home with his E55. Rich bastard mocks me by leaving it in view in his garage.

So you don't use a truck mounted wheel lift for these repos? Do you get keys with the paperwork? Or do you have to knock on the door and hope they turn over the keys?
