Detailed installation pictures/instructions for installing an OEM Navigation Plus unit in the C5 A6, S6, RS6 and allroad. These pictures are specific to those A6's that are currently equipped with either a Symphony I or Symphony II double DIN factory head unit. The pictures also include installation information for the TMC/CAN gateway device and GPS antenna.

Either myself or others have confirmed compatibility with the Nav+. In this album are some unique screen shots relative to a TMC/CAN gateway used in North America. I've also added a collection of interior shots of European C5 A6's with the Nav+ option. Lastly, my pictures for how to install the Nexxtel audio/video interface device to work with your OEM Audi Navigation Plus unit. These also show how I modified my glovebox to mount a Blaupunkt ME3 DVD/CD/MP3/TV Tuner unit.

Most of you have seen these pix....but I've added and updated a lot of info since the summer.
Also, for those of you who are interested, the Nav+ site is now being posted here (special thanks to Sky Tougas for hosting it here). 99% of your questions can be answered by viewing this site:
http://www.nav-plus.com/instructions/
Also, there is a wealth of information being shared on this site in the UK. FYI - The VW MFD Navi shares a lot of similarities to the Nav+. If you look under the products section, you'll see collection of items that can be used with the Nav+. The guy who runs this site is Jim Brett (jm@vwnavi.com).

Stay tuned as my detailed installation article should be done by the end of the year. Merry Christmas. Enjoy!

The new RNS-E is a great device....but nobody has figured out how to get the map disks to work (as of 2/15/2005). I am watching the activity within the Nav+ Yahoo forum. Unfortunately, it looks like someone will have to figure out how to modify the US DVD map to work in the Euro hardware (just like the same issue that Dan Gold solved with the Nav+ map CD's). Some folks have already spent $2500 on the unit...plus $300 for the map disk...and they still don't have navigation capability. Many of us are just sitting on the sidelines...waiting for someone to crack the code. I bet someon will figure it out in 6-9 months time....but it will probably cost them a lot of time and $$ to get the maps to work. This is a small price to pay to be an Audi [Nav] enthusiast.
The other thing that is an unknown....is whether or not the Nav directions will be projected onto the instrument cluster. In the Nav+ space...you need a TMC/CAN gateway to handle the CAN translation. It is assumed that the RNS-E will handle this...without the TMC/CAN gateway. But again...this is all theory and speculation.
The RNS-E is a sweet OEM unit....great interface with MP3 capability.
We'll see what happens on the mapside in the coming months. When there is a breakthrough...you'll probably see an update from Peter Wallace...or I'll post something myself.
