Is the labor that much more to replace the axel than the CV boot? If I'm replacing the left front axel with aftermark component (Empi or JHM), do I also need to do the right front as well?

Just change the joint/boot kit. Dont change out the audi axle. Theres a reason why the Audi one is 500+ and the aftermarket one is 200 or less!!!!!!!!! Aftermarket ones won't last.

Labor is the same if not more for just changing the boot and loading the grease. It's a messy job no matter what, but IMO doing the axle as a whole is easier.
