I know that summer tires are designed for hugging curves on sunny days.

But are their any affects during the Winter? Does the cold temperature hinder a summer tires' performance after the tires have warmed up?

I ask b/c my stock dunlops are running bald now. I live in Georgia where it snows about once a year and doesn't rain that much. When it does rain, I keep my speeds near the speed limit.

Should I go with all/season tires? summer tires? snow tires?

Thx in advance!

Do you mean you exceed the speed limit other times of the year? Oh my, that is breaking the law[;)]

If you can park it on the snow days I would go with summer tires all year, unless the winter temps are real low. The compounds in ultraperformance summer tires are real sucky if there is any snow. A good summer tread design can handle any amount of rain, so that should not be a problem. I use summer tires on my Volvo S80 all year, but have a set of all seasons to swap on my TT for trips to the mountains.

Low temperatures in Atlanta is about 35 degrees on average in the winter.

Thx for the help!

Just be careful if it gets too cold your summer compound tires will get hard as bricks.

you will slip and slide in the snow on summer tires. summer tires suck in the snow. if you will be seeing that white stuff, an all season may be in your best interest
