Ok, I got a $77 front plate ticket... but on the ticket, they misspelled my license plate by 1 letter and as far as I can see they only wrote the last 5 digits of the VIN. they do have a "picture taken" comment at the bottom. is it clear to go? I was planning to call DMV and see if there are any tickets under my plate #

^^^you know i had some cop put the wrong year that i was suppose to appear in court and they had to send him the ticket back and he had to fix it and submit it again.

If you just got the ticket a few days ago nothing will be in the DMV system yet. It takes a couple of weeks for the ticket to get to them.

I can't beleive they cahrged you. I just got a fix it ticket and that was it. Put my plate on with some zip ties and took it to the station so they could write it off. Then, I went home and cut off the ties and went back to riddin dirty.

Bummer man. My guess is they're charging for tickets like this now to try and make money for the state due the economic crisis.

I got a speeding ticket a few years back and the cop wrote down the wrong intersection. For one it was not the street I was on, and another the 2 streets he wrote down don't even physically intersect. I thought I was in the clear to fight it but ended up getting a notice in the mail stating that they corrected it. There's someone at the station that double checks all the tickets and makes the necessary corrections.

Good luck though!

i guess if they fired that guy, there wouldn't be any need to charge...

Update: I called the chp number on the back of the ticket. I used the reference number and the plate is still wrong but it says the file is closed. I checked my license plate too and nothing has come up... its been a month since the ticket.

am I on the clear?
