Hey y'all, haven't posted in a loooong time.

Had a 1998.5 A4 1.8TQMS that I've enjoyed but getting up there in clicks and no warranty so.....

I've just picked up a 2004 1.8TQMS. It has every conceivable option except UltraSport, and that, quite frankly, I didn't want.

Sport Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg, Premium Pkg, upgraded Bose 10 spkr stereo, 6 spd, Xenons...the list goes on.

It was used for 6 months and I bought it from the dealer and therefore got Audi Assured tacked on to the original. So, I've got 5.5 years of warranty(woohoo!), 5.5 years of roadside assistance(road ass?) and 3.5 years paid maintenance. So, I'm a happy camper.

It's Moro Blue with Ebony interior. I'll post picks when I pick it up on Monday.

Two questions - what has your experience been with paid maintenance? Do they quibble on the details? Any service charges that may be hidden? Brake pads and discs still covered? How about warranty claims for things like...worn out trim pieces, or creaky interior bits. Anything you could tell me would be great.

Question two - I had chipped my 1998.5 with a Neuspeed VBL chip and loved it. For the 2004s, who's currently got the most reliable, undetectable, driveable chip? Anyone in GTA? I'm in London and I don't believe anyone around here does chip mods.

Also, anyone have any experience with Goodyear RS-A tires? They're coming on the vehicle and I haven't heard good things about them at all.

If you're referring to the paid maintenance (Audi assured) no idea. I know guys that bought this and had their turbos blow and it was covered completely with no hidden cost.

I think the new warranty now covers one set of pads/discs and that's it. Worn trim pieces or creaky interior bits - they may look at the creaky noise to try and eliminate/lessen it, but if you have trim pieces that have been worn naturally or if you scuffed it - this isn't covered.

AS for undetectable chip - probably the APR perhaps, but there really isn't a dealer in Toronto that is 100% mod friendly. Some have good relationships with service and have managed to get things covered (and it wasn't because of abuse) but your luck may vary.

I think Brake pad and Clutch is only cover for the first year of the car.

First off congrats! great to hear you got a nice new ride.

I had brakes completely redone a month before the warranty ended on my 01 with no questions what so ever, or hidden costs. The maintenance was great, never had to pay a cent. I had some strange things like the seat rails wearing and the drivers seat would shift, all replaced. Just make sure when you take it in you give them a detailed view on the issue and they should look after you.

I'm not sure about chipping, a lot of that will have to do with how mod friendly your dealer is.

Hey thanks for the replies. I'm really looking forward to it.

One of the reasons for upgrading is to continue to have an Audi but also eliminate as much of the worry as possible that comes with buying used or, God forbid, without warranty.

So, I just want to make sure that I'm not looking at hidden costs along the way.

I've driven a few B6 A4s but this is the first 6spd. I only drove it for 20 minutes and am picking it up on Monday.

What's your feedback on long term suspension feel? Creaks, suspension thump, etc? Do these B6s hold together nicely?
