For those of you who don't know me, I usually stick to GCC but I drive a B6 A4. Whatever. More importantly, I'm a student at the University of San Diego. My family moved to Wellesley at the end of August, and this will be my first trip to go see them. I'll be staying in Wellesley from Dec 20-27.

What is there to do in Boston? That's my million dollar question. From what I understand, it's fairly easy to take the train into the city from Wellesley, but that doesn't change the fact that I have no idea where the popular kids hang out. In other words, I have no friends in the state and nothing to do.

Are there any local GTGs? What and where are the good, happening bars? Any sort of college nights at any of these bars? Happy hours that are worth it?

What are the good breweries in the area besides Sam Adams? San Diego is fortunate enough to have 29 craft breweries and I've been to like 7 of them... I'm down to tour breweries all day long, I just need to know which ones are the best.

Oh and cigar bars too.

Any other suggestions on what to do? I'm not much of a lets tour the history of the united states kinda guy and I'd prefer to do indoor shit because I'm going to struggle bigtime adapting to the weather.

Also, I could use a few places that don't serve alcohol. Good mom and pop style coffee shops? I'm not much of a Dunkin Donuts or a Starbucks fan, but I could use a few minor friendly spots to chill at.

Hope that didn't sound too demanding, I appreciate the time you spent reading this, and I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

-The Ave on Commonwealth Ave in brighton (dollar beeahs all day every day)
-The Kels in brighton is a bar that turns into a night club on thurs, fri and sat (very casual atmosphere/dress code)
-There is a Cigar spot on boylston street in the copley area (cant remember the name)
-Most of the brewerys are not in the direct vicinity of boston
-There is a place called Sunset grill (in brighton) that carries around 100 different types of local beers most of them on tap and good food.
-You go to downtown boston/theatre district there are like 10 different night clubs around eachother. (Roxy, Venu, Aria, Underbar to name a few)
-Fanuel hall has like 10 bars right around eachother
-The Copley area (Boylston street) has like 5 bars within 3 block radius.

There are a few meets but since its winter its not has good as it would be in the spring/summer.
NSDA hosts a G2G at the hooters in Saugus, I believe NEK hosts a G2g at some restaurant in northern MA as well not sure where. My crew BEU hosts a g2g on thursdays in the allston/brighton area as well.

Hopefully that helps you while you are out in the city. Just as a heads up as well almost everything shuts down at 2am.

Thanks for the replies, you guys. I'll def check some of those places out.

My little sister's in high school and one of her friends has an older sister in college. So i'm gonna try to meet her and we can go out places... So hopefully she knows good places to go too.

Cool about the 2am thing... same in california. last call usually comes around 1:15-1:30, so I'm used to that. Thanks for the heads up though with everything, I def appreciate it.

It may be a little far, but Red Hook Brewery is in Portsmouth, NH which is about an hour and a half drive down the coast from Wellesley on I-95.

dang i just saw this.. i've been partying all week in the bean. if u aren't into the club scene, then i guess it won't matter. did you hit up newbury st or do any shopping? we have a bunch of exclusive sneaker/clothing stores like bodega, karmaloop and johnny cupcakes.

boston beer works is awesome. you should have gotten a growler and carried it back home! i used to go there for lunch when i was in college and carry a growler back to class. my school's in that area.

hope you enjoyed the bean! winter sucks.
