Well I'll keep an eye out. Weekends in the winter are a tough one for me with skiing, so will have to see.

I would love to attend if it's in Calgary.

Bossman... forgot to say that this is for Toronto area only. Take a look at AW Canada forum, there is one in Alberta but in the Calgary area in January.

More info on the course below. So far I have 15 people interested including myself, take about 3-5 people off because of scheduling conflicts, can't afford it or what not and we'll still make the minimum 10.
Hmmmm, fun ice slalom and no worry about cops or what not! :-)

Hi Mike,
I sure do remember the Audi gang.
We certainly can have an exclusive Audi day. All that you would need is for the group to commit and the minimum number would be 10. They would need to chose either a Saturday or Sunday in January or February (except Jan. 29 or 30). We are not sure when we can start in January as we need Mother Nature's co-operation to build or iced facility. We hope to start by January 8 or 9.
If your group has less than 10 drivers committed, we will open the remaining spots to the general public. The club can make a weekend of it by coming up on Saturday to Minden to watch the Ice Race Championships and then doing the School on Sunday or vice versa. There are plenty of motels in the Minden area. We can tailor the day to add a fun ice slalom at the end of the day for your group.
Let me know if you or anyone in your group has any questions.
Thanks
Ian M. Law

Awesome, but that's a no go for me.
I can't find details about the course. What exactly is it? Is there an itinerary anywhere?
I have a buddy with a VR6 GTI golf who has a cottage in Haliburton.
Tanner, if you have any more detailed info about what exactly the course consists of - the two of us may come.

This does sound great!
I just did the Pfaff Track Day at Shannonville last weekend and while the lapping was an amazing experience I had the most fun on the skid pad...so ice would possibly be even better!
$$$ ???

Odd, where did my post go here.
Anyways, $195 for the day and Ian's going to throw in the ice slalom as mentioned too. IF we can get more than 10 which we will very likely, it'll be a club day for Audi drivers. It's more than his other courses as there is a cost to maintain the snow for the school.
I just shot off an email to Ian to find out what's the best way to set this up and for him to let me know which weekends in Jan/Feb are candidates for this. Most likely I'm going to recommend the process where people who are interested in doing this pay Ian himself so I don't have to handle any of the money transaction and therefore it's entirely up to you to commit.

What exactly would we be doing on this course? Is it a 1/2 class room theory and 1/2 driving?
NEED MORE INFO!

If it's like his school on the DDT, yes. I just can't see him letting us let lose for a full day on the track screwing around. As it says on his website:
"... we'll show you how to stop, turn, and avoid collisions on ice and snow ... on real ice and snow, you will learn to maintain or regain control of your vehicle or driving situation. This course includes classroom session, handbook, certificate and lunch."
Found the website:

It's the winter driving course for $195
Tanner, keep us posted here on what weekend this will happen on. I'm planning on going providing it's not mid Jan (have a wedding to be at).
Pete - you thinking of going?

Sounds like a good experience.
I'm actually gonna try to convince my wife to take it since she put up with my Shannonville thing all day.
She REALLY needs to experience the TT in a controlled situation and NOT spinning out on the 400!! :)

Bring her out! Friend of mine took the BMW driving course (first level) and his girlfriend was tired of him having all the fun and she also took part (with his BMW) and she loved it even though she was skeptical about the whole thing.
