I just got a set of A6 ecodes, and I am wondering if the corners not staying on is normal? They blink fine, but I'd like to utilize them as my parking lights along with the DRLs or when the headlight is on.
Can anyone give me some advise?

so far its looking like a no, especially since the bulb is single filament.
I guess a lot of people like the "amber off" though ~ that seems risky

Mine are dual filament and used to come on with the parking lights.
I didn't like it so I put a small piece of ecletrical tape over one of the connections so I only comes on as a turn signal.

I read your posts in the B5 section [:)] I guess the A6 corners are different [:|]

I'm going to try a Frankenstein experiment and see if I can get this to act how I want it to

Do the old (stock) bulb sockets fit into ecodes?
If yes.... use that, and run a wire from the city light to the stock socket

It might work without re-wiring
going to try it out tonight

stock is 7528 dual filament
the ecode one looks like 7506 but I'm not positive, it is however single filament, compared to the stock dual filament

wierd..I just got myself a set of ecodes for my b5, and I had to reuse the oem US bulb holder/connector. the oem connector does not connect to the holder on the ecodes.

I heard that with a little finesse that the us bulb holder fits ecodes (at least on a B5)
I've yet to try it on my C5

well the US corner socket fit, but didn't act right
so I'm just going for it and installed them as is... and I'm surprisingly happy =)

they're stock on euro lights, so I didn't have to mod anything... plug & play for the A6 at least
If anything I'd think you could just wire it to the corner lights

The parking lights are supposed to be that way for Europe, it's the law(and a better one) so people don't get confused. I also read that there is no law in the US that says you need amber parking lights on with headlights, they just do it for some reason.
And if you notice, the euro cars have been importing them that way for years on some Merc, BMW, VW. My '02 Passat didn't have parking lights on with headlights. Mercs don't either. My VW just had city lights, and hence used a 2 position headlight switch. Either ON or OFF, no in between "parking light" setting, that for some stupid reason after '01 they disabled in favor of pumping lower wattage through your headlights, thus burning them out quicker. The city lights only came on with headlights after '01.
The turn signal is for TURNING, not letting people see you. That's what the headlights are for. The only requirement is the illuminated side reflector. Some put it in the headlight, the smarter makers put it on the bumper so we can remove it or black it out because it's stupid. Europe doesn't need the damn things, but I guess US drivers have lower IQ to miss seeing a big object sideways in the road or driveway.

Yeah, with the eCodes, the City Lights replace the "clearance" or front corner parking lights, and are powered by the same circuit. That way, the city lights are ON with the clearance (parking) lights, while the headlights are OFF. That is what the city lights are for, driving in the city with lots of bright street lights, when the main low beams are not needed.

The city lights are so dim they're hardly noticeable in daytime which enforces the above post. They're not blindingly glaring like incompetent US automakers make them. But the way they're styled on the angular lens of the pre facelift A6 makes them look kick ass on side angles and approaching intersections makes other drivers notice the jewel effect as they pass you in the opposite direction.
This doesn't apply much so to the newer round lens design of the Audi or others, it doesn't reflect as much.

I know this is a slightly old thread, but seemed like a good place to ask. What is the bulb type for the LED city lights on B6 S4 Bi-Xenon ecodes?

Hey...I am trying to bring my Audi A4 here to Germany....I need to make it so that the parking lights are off in the front headlights, when the headlights are on. Why the hell do they do this in the US? Retardedness. Oh well, so I need to get that done before I ship the car.
Can an Audi dealer change this feature with a VAGCOM computer, or do I have to just wire it differently....Or can I just buy a different bulb with only one filament instead of two? But if I do this, will I get a "blown out" bulb signal on my dashboard???
Thanks...
Joey

You need to install ecode headlight housings.^^
