Okay, so I'm walking back from a night class in UCLA. I realize my parking permit wasn't up. I ran up the stairs to see if there was a ticket. Nope, no ticket, but there was a nice, big, round smash in my windshield. Along with some cracks around the circular smash. And a dent on the hood from the rock or ball, or whatever they used to smash up the windshield.
Luckily, it was still in tact. Wow, I never would have guessed...thanks to the DB at UCLA!
somebody just smashed up my truck on halloween :(

Nice, someone at SMC deciede to park into my passenger side rear bumper and leave after finding out they couldnt fit...plus the 2 new chips of missing paint on my rear bumper from people at the school backing into me, love it!

This is something I have always feared.
Walking out to my car to see someone has vandalized it and having
no way of finding out who did the damage.
God forgive me for what I will do if I ever catch someone in the act.

there's a lot to be said for having a silver car (like you and I both do)...they just blend in.
nogaro/sprint blue however...they kind of scream 'hey! I'm an awesome car!'
beautiful colours but way too high profile. Imola yellow cars must get gobbed on every single day.

Sorry to hear about that. Im always worried something like that will happen. I usually park somewhere well lit, open, and secluded so if anyone does decide to mess with it there is a better chance of a witness.

i dont really worry about it whenever i park my car. I'll avoid parking next to 70s detroit metal with 10' long, 600 lb doors, but for the most part i park where everyone else does. Its my DD and i park in a parking structure at school as well, and havent had an incident yet (almost 5 years of ownership now).
I've convinced myself that people see nogaro as such a beautiful color they are extra careful around my car, hah.
And if anything happens, thats what insurance is for, i give those guys enough money its about time they paid out a policy =p

^ Yeah, that.
Sorry Channa - that absolutely sucks. Where were you parked? On campus? They have security cameras in most of the campus lots. Call UniPD - they can hook you up. Let me know if you have any issues - I may have a hook up or two on campus that can help.

I feel you man - I parked at a mall parking lot in the middle of the day on a Sunday and I come out to see both of my mirrors ripped off the car in a high traffic area. Someone must have seen but man I wanted to catch those punks so bad - and it was a $3500 fix.

Just plain terrible, sorry to hear, hopefully your car will be fixed soon. People that do crap like this always get what's coming to them. I agree with Mof though, I would beat a person to an inch of their lives if they ever touched my car. Luckily when my cab is out on campus it is parked in a Mormon parking structure with lots of other Audi's nearby.

I hate hearing these stories- my worst nightmare. sorry to hear.
Was the car parked near any of the fields? I can't imagine someone throwing a rock at the windshield then having the smarts to hide the rock afterwards. Maybe someone was throwing a baseball around in the parking lot? pics? I know you did-

shoot, I took pics and video!
I was parked in the P32 structure in Westwood. On Kinross, near fatburger, across the street from Westwood Police...too bad I didn't know where they were, I woulda gone down there last night.
as far as USC stuff in my car, there was a towel, that was yellow, orange, and pink. Not USC colors, nor did it say USC.
I don't know if the dent is pop-able, but hopefully it will come out.
Looks like Windshield from dealership costs $275, install is $165, and the install time is around 5 hours. Windshield is also in stock.

After closer inspection on the hood, the paint is cracked, and I can see the metal underneath the paint. Does that mean the hood needs to be painted?

FUCK UCLA! I can't even tell you how much I hate that school. The administration is obnoxious and most of the students are, without a doubt, douche bags.
Even the westwood police are unbelievable - my friends and I, the night before the USC/UCLA game, took some crayola chalk and wrote "Go USC" on the steps heading up to royce hall (that is what we wrote, NOTHING vulgar). The westwood police proceeded to put us on the curb and treat us like shit, calling 19 and 20 year olds "kid" and the like.
I'm so sorry for you channa - if you need someone to talk to in your moment of pain, my time is all for you.

with respraying the hood now in the equation, the cost of your insurance deductible might be more cost effective than the retail cost of your repair bill. it's cool that you're not letting it bother you too much. worst thing is having something like this ruin your week.

If you have a good bodyshop, it should be about $250 and should take 1 day. No biggie at all.
My deductible is $1000 (mandatory for the S4 with my insurer) so I'd be looking at a cash deal with a bodyshop most likely...not insurance
Although the windshield...that'll be close to $1000-1500 even.

yeah, windshields are ridiculous. I've recently replaced my IS300 windshield and I had 3 quotes - $800, 900 and 900. I assumed the S4 would be the same if not more. $500 sounds impossible to me. I reckon you'll get a different story if you call around.
But painting a hood shouldn't cost $500 unless you don't know the bodyshop guys. Pay cash, and go to someone you know!
I had the hood of another car fully repainted 2 years ago. It had a 30 inch wide key scratch on it. $200.
Sounds like you guys need to get to know a bodyshop guy, and I need to get to know a windshield guy!
