Ok, so I was pooking around auto trader and came across this sweet looking deal for an 06 S4.
http://http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=253608656
Only $15500! wow, what a deal! So I'm thinking this this thing is either a typo, or has an R title (or possesed or something). I then proceed to email the dude and get this replay:
-----------
Hello and Congratulations on finding this deal! From this point on, it's up
to you whether you want to take advantage and get this perfect working
condition 2006 Audi S4 (with a clear title and the remainder of the factory
warranty) for the price of $15,500.
I'm currently on vacation in Hawaii, but I can ship you the vehicle at my
expense and give you 5 days for inspection.
The financial part of this transaction will be provided by CARFAX Buyback
Guarantee Program.
I'm a serious and honest person and I will treat you with respect and I
expect the same from you.
So, if you want to buy it, buy it now or you're going to miss it.
I'll be waiting for your decision.
Thank you,
Frank

The best part is he says in a later email that the car pics were taken locally. Here the posting if for Turtle Creek PA, but in the background of one of the pics you can see a telephone number for NJ.
I reported the guy, but if anyone wants to have any fun with him, please be my guest.

I wonder what would have happened if you told him to ship it to you at his expense.

I have been looking around for S4's as well. best way to catch these (besides the ridiculous price) is they will have an email different from the form through Auto Trader as well as the plates will most likely not be on the cars. plus most of the time you will be able to find the same car listed for sale at a higher price...
rule of thumb is if it sounds like an amazing deal it most likely is fraud

theres always about three or so rs4s on there for 10-20k. usually 'on sale' bc the person took a job in another country lol.

I love these. I like to email the sellers and get conversations going. Usually after about 4-5 emails are exchanged about how they need to unload the car and how great of shape the car is in and how great a deal it is... I tell them that I'm flying there with a check to pick up the car (of course I'm lying) the conversation stops and I never hear from them again.

I don't even bother looking for deals anymore cause a Nigerian Prince is sending me 300 million in the next few weeks cause we have the same last name and he needs to get his money out of the country.

We should create bogus email accounts and mess with this guy. I remember a few people on nsxprime screwed with a scammer awhile back.

OMG I read the whole thing and was laughing out loud several times. That is clasic for sure. There are a few other ones that are up there. Like the computer scam where the guy scams the scammer by sending him a package that the scammer needs to pay the small cod for the shipping on only to find out the package has a screw you sign in it
WOW good post
