My B6 S4 6MT sedan has 5000 miles on it. The clutch went out. It is being repaired under warranty.

I think this is pretty weird. I owned a '95 E36 M3 that I bought new, kept for 8 years, and drove for 90,000 miles. I was still on the original clutch when I sold it.

How'd you do that? Drive around hilly areas? Smoke the clutch often? How many times can the clutch be replaced under warranty?

I have been driving stick shift sports cars for 30 years. I do not abuse the clutch. I drove the S4 no differently than the E36 M3 that I got 90,000+ miles from the original clutch. I think my S4 clutch was defective.

Hmmm... I can have a custom performance clutch made for anyone that will hold up to 30% more power than stock for 400.00. I'm putting one in mine when it goes out.

I got my S4 back today from the dealer with a new clutch installed on warranty. I asked the service advisor "how much would this repair have cost me if it was not covered by warranty?" He said $2,500. Oy vey. Hope the 2nd clutch lasts a little longer than the first one.

Yo Richard, I need your clutch... what dealer did you go to or did you get the stock part by any chance?

I'm in La too...

My clutch went in during the first 6k miles I drove my A4. I drove my E46 3series 60+ miles on the original clutch. I do not ride the clutch nor do I abuse it. My clutch was replaced under warranty but I don't think if it happens again the dealer will replace it. I am investing in something a bit better than stock. AWE-Tuning got a few applications for our Audi's that will last a lot longer than our stock clutch.
